Review and Execute the Restore
When Elements finishes comparing the tenant’s current configurations and the backup that you want to restore, a comparison page highlighting discrepancies between the tenant’s current configurations and the selected backup will be generated, and the status of the tenant will display Review restore.
For a tenant with this status, you need to review the comparisons, make updates as needed, and initiate the restore process to restore the finalized configurations to the tenant.
To open the comparisons page, on the Tenants page, locate the tenant, and click the Review restore status link.
In the summary section, you can find the following information:
- Tenant name and customer’s organization name
- The selected backup
- The last deployed time and the **View change log** link
The **View change log** link allows you to track tenant modifications over time. For detailed instructions, refer to [View Change Logs](#missing-link).
In the comparisons section, comparisons are grouped into 4 tabs. For quick access, you can search for a specific configuration by entering the configuration name in the Search text box and pressing Enter on your keyboard.
Switch among these tabs to review and manage the configurations. Note that all of the selected configurations will be restored to the tenant.
- **Unique to tenant** – This tab displays the configurations that are exclusive to the tenant. You can expand or collapse all configurations under this tab by clicking **Expand all** or **Collapse all**.
You can make updates as below:
- Remove all configurations – If you want to remove all configurations from the tenant, click **Deselect all**.
- Remove configurations within a source – If you want to remove configurations within a source from the tenant, deselect the checkbox next to the source.
- Remove a configuration – If you want to remove a configuration from the tenant, expand the source to find the configuration, and deselect the checkbox next to the configuration.
- Remove an instance – If you want to remove an instance from the tenant, expand the source to find the configuration, expand the configuration to find the instance, and deselect the checkbox next to the instance.
- Update properties of an instance – If you want to update the properties of an instance, click **View** next to the instance to open the property details page. Make updates and click **Update** to save the changes. If a specific property cannot be updated, a **View only** tag will appear next to it.

In the **Edit** window, locate a property, make updates, and click **Update** to save the changes. If a specific property cannot be updated, a **View only** tag will appear next to it.
- **Matches with backup** – This tab displays the configurations that are configured identically (same instance name and property values) in the tenant and the selected backup. You can expand or collapse all configurations under this tab by clicking **Expand all** or **Collapse all**.
To view details of a configuration, click **View** next to the configuration to open the **View** window. There is no need to make updates.
- **Conflicts with backup** – This tab displays the configurations that are configured differently (same instance name but mismatched property values) in the tenant and the selected backup. You can expand or collapse all configurations under this tab by clicking **Expand all** or **Collapse all**.
To view and manage the conflicts of a configuration, you can click **Edit** next to the configuration. The **Edit** window pops up, displaying the properties in pairs (tenant vs. baseline), which allows you to update and confirm the settings to be restored. Selecting the standard in each pair, and click **Update** to save the configurations.
If a property cannot be updated, a **View only** tag will appear next to it. To help streamline the review process, you can click **Hide view-only** **properties** to focus only on those modifiable properties.
For easier review, matching properties are hidden by default, helping you focus on conflicts. You can click **Show matching properties** if you want to display these matching properties, and you can make updates to these matching configurations, if needed.
If the current configurations do not meet your requirements, you can switch to another backup by clicking Restore to a specific date at the upper-right corner of the page. After switching to a new backup, Elements will retrieve configurations from the tenant and the new backup to generate a new comparison page. You need to review the new comparisons. When the configurations meet your requirements, you can click Restore in the lower-right corner of the page to initiate the restore process to restore the finalized configurations to the tenant.
Once the current configurations meet your requirements, you can click Restore in the lower-right corner of the page to initiate the restore process to restore the finalized configurations to the tenant.
After clicking Restore, the system will start verifying configurations. Depending on the results, one of the following scenarios will occur:
- If some configurations need attention, the **Validation check** window will appear, detailing the configurations that need your review. You can click **Copy** to copy the information to the clipboard for reference, and then go back to the page to update the configurations accordingly. Alternatively, you can click **Continue** to ignore and proceed with the restore, which might cause exceptions or failures during the restore process.
- If all configurations are valid or if you have chosen to ignore the configurations shown in the **Validation check** window, the **Restore** window will pop up, displaying the number of added configurations, removed configurations, and changed configurations.
In the Restore window, you need to enter comments if necessary and select an action below:
- **Close** – If you do not want to restore configurations to the tenant, click **Close** to close the window.
- **Schedule** **restore** – After clicking **Schedule** **restore**, you need to select a future date and time and click **OK**. The status displays **Scheduled** **restore**. Configurations are waiting to be restored at the specified date and time.
- **Restore** – If you want to restore the configurations to the tenant right now, click **Restore**. A restore is started immediately.
If you have chosen to restore the configurations immediately, on the Tenants page, you can locate the tenant and find its Status to track the progress:
- **Restoring** – During the process of the restore, this status appears.
- **Restored** **with exception** (clickable) – If the restore finishes with exceptions, this status will appear. The total number of configurations and the number of restored configurations are displayed.
You can click the status link and then click **Export report** to export the report for details or click **Retry** to try again.
