Export to PDFThe action audit report reports the user activities in the reporting scope (SharePoint Online or OneDrive) by a specific time. This report is available for the following content sources:
*Note: Before using this feature, make sure you have enabled report data collection in Administration > Report data collection > Data in Microsoft 365. For details about enabling report data collection, refer to Enable Report Data Collection.
Create a Profile
To create a profile, complete the following steps:
Click Create, and then select a content source. You are redirected to the Create page.
Configure the following information on the Create page:
Profile name ‒ Enter the profile name.
Description – Enter an optional description.
Define a time frame ‒ Select a time frame to determine at which time user activities that are taken will be reported. To customize a time frame, complete the following steps:
Select the Custom option.
Click the Calendar button.
Select a start and an end date.
Click OK to save the settings.
Specify a user scope ‒ Select All users or Only include specific users as the user scope.
Select action types ‒ Select the action types to collect the corresponding user activities in the report.
Select object types ‒ Select the object types for which the actions are taken to be collected in the report.
Specify a data scope ‒ Select All nodes to not specify any nodes, or select Only for specific nodes, extend the tree, and select one or multiple nodes to specify the data scope.
Specify a URL to narrow down the data scope ‒ You can narrow down the data scope by entering a full or relative URL.
Click Save to save the profile. When the profile is created, you can click the profile name to view the profile details.
Edit a Profile
Once a profile is created, all profile settings can be edited. To edit a profile, select the profile, click Edit, and then edit the profile settings on the Edit page.
Delete a Profile
When a profile is no longer useful, you can delete the profile from the profile table. Deleting unnecessary profiles enables you to simplify profile management.
To delete profiles, complete the following steps:
Select one or more profiles and click Delete. A confirmation window appears.
Select or deselect the Deleted related jobs and reports checkbox to define whether to simultaneously delete the related jobs and reports.
If the checkbox is deselected, the jobs that ran before using this profile will not be deleted. You can still find the deleted profile and view the reports that were generated before using this profile on the Show report page.
Click OK to delete the profiles.
Generate Report
After creating a profile, you can generate a report based on the profile. To generate a report, select the profile, and click Generate report. A Generate action audit report job will start, and you can navigate to Job monitor to view the job details.
Show and Export Report
After generating a report, you can view the report and export it. To show a report, select a profile from the profile table, and click Show report. To export the report, click Export report. A download process will start in Download center. When the download process is completed, you can download the file by clicking Download.
