This section walks you through the essential steps to set up AvePoint Cloud Governance in AvePoint Online Services so you can start using the service.

To learn about how AvePoint charges for licenses for AvePoint Cloud Governance and add-on subscriptions, refer to Subscription and Licensing Information.

  1. To sign up for Cloud Governance, you must first sign up for an AvePoint Online Services account. For details on signing up, refer to Sign up for AvePoint Online Services.

  2. To use AvePoint Cloud Governance properly, your tenant must first create app profiles or Microsoft 365 service account profiles in AvePoint Online Services. With the apps or Microsoft 365 service account, AvePoint Cloud Governance can connect to your Microsoft 365 tenant, Microsoft Entra ID, or Viva Engage. For details, refer to Create App Profiles or Microsoft 365 Service Account Profiles.

  3. To allow users in your organization to sign into AvePoint Cloud Governance, they must be added to AvePoint Online Services and assigned the appropriate roles in Management > User management. For details on how to add users, refer to Manage Users. For details on AvePoint Cloud Governance user roles, see User Roles for AvePoint Cloud Governance.

Microsoft Graph Beta APIs Used by AvePoint Cloud Governance

AvePoint Cloud Governance leverages Microsoft Graph beta APIs (the APIs in preview) for sensitivity label listing that is currently unsupported by version v1.0. This feature may be affected if Microsoft introduces changes to their beta APIs. The beta version API method of Microsoft Graph that we use in the classic AvePoint Cloud Governance is as follows:

  • AvePoint Cloud Governance Feature: List sensitivity labels

  • API method: List labels

NOTE

The API method is not available in the Microsoft Graph API 1.0 version.

Configure Language and Time Zone Settings

To configure the language and time zone for your AvePoint Cloud Governance platform, click the login ID on the navigation bar. Then, click Configure Personal Settings.

In the Configure Personal Settings window, configure the following settings:

  1. Language – Select a language from the drop-down list to set it as the display language.

  2. Time Zone – Select a time zone from the drop-down list to set it as the display time zone. The time zone selected here decides the display time of data in the AvePoint Cloud Governance interface. If your time zone observes daylight saving time, you can choose to Automatically adjust the clock for Daylight Saving Time.

  3. Click Save on the ribbon to save your configuration. The display language and time zone are changed automatically. Click Cancel to exit the Configure Personal Settings window.
