Export to PDFThe SharePoint top-level site and objects with unique permissions are listed in the table. You can perform the following permission updates for this step:
View and update permission – To view permissions to a specific object, select it and click View permissions above the table. Alternatively, you can click the View permissions button in the row. The View permissions window appears.
In the window, the Users and Group tabs are available:
Users – The number of users with permission to the object is displayed next to the tab. The following actions are available in the tab:
Revoke access – Click a user and click Revoke access above the table to revoke user access to the object. Alternatively, you can click the Revoke access button in a user row.
Update user permission – Click the user permissions under the Permissions column. In the permission drop-down list, select the permissions you want to grant to the user or deselect the permissions you want to remove from the user. Then, click anywhere outside the drop-down list to save your edits.
Remove all user access – Click Remove all user access at the bottom of the window to remove all listed users’ permission to the object.
If you want to clear all the changes that you made, click Reset all above the table.
Group – The number of groups with permission to the object is displayed next to the tab. The following actions are available in the tab:
Revoke access – Click the Revoke access button in a group row to revoke group access to the object.
Update group permission – Click the group permissions under the Explicit permission column. In the permission drop-down list, select the permissions you want to grant to the group or deselect the permissions you want to remove from the group. Then, click anywhere outside the drop-down list to save your edits.
Manage group membership – Click a group name to view its members.
You can click the Remove from group button in a member row to remove the member. This will revoke any object permissions the member inherited from the group.
To add members, click Add user in the upper-right corner of the table. Specify the users and groups you want to add as members and click Save. The new members will inherit the current group’s permission to the object.
Remove all group access – Click Remove all group access at the bottom of the window to remove all listed groups’ permission to the object.
This action is unavailable if your IT administrators have configured permission review for external users only.
Revoke guest access – You can revoke guest access to the top-level site. Select the top-level site and click Revoke guest access above the table, or you can click the Revoke guest access button in the site row.
Delete unique permission – Select one or more objects and click Delete unique permissions or you can click the Delete unique permissions button to delete unique permissions of a specific object.
View risk information – You can view the risk level of objects in the Risk level column. To view detailed risk information, click the risk level.
Open in browser – Click the link under the object name to open the object in SharePoint.
If you want to clear all the SharePoint permission changes that you made, click Reset all above the table.
In the classic object based view, you can perform the following actions:
View and Update Permissions – To view and update the permissions of an object, select an object in the list, and click View permissions on the ribbon, or click More actions > View permissions to open the permission details panel. In the panel, you can see all users or groups that have permissions to this object. You can perform the following actions on a selected user or group that has permissions to the object:
Revoke access – Click Revoke access on the ribbon, or click More actions > Revoke access to remove the user/group access to the object.
Edit permission – Click Edit permission on the ribbon, or click More actions > Edit permission to modify the user/group permission by configuring the following settings in the Edit permission panel:
For a SharePoint group, you can click to remove access for the entire group directly.
Add group members – To add more users as SharePoint group members who will have permissions to the object, click Add user. In the Add user window, enter the names of one or more users that you want to add as group members, and then click Add.
Remove group member – To remove a member from the SharePoint group, navigate to the user and then click the remove button.
When you finish, click Update permissions.
If you want to clear all the changes that you made, click Reset all on the ribbon.
Delete unique permissions – To delete unique permissions in sub-object level, including subsites, libraries, lists, folders, documents, and items, select one or more objects and click Delete unique permissions on the ribbon, or click More actions > Delete unique permissions. Once unique permissions are deleted, the objects will inherit permissions from the parent. Any sharing links that give access to the objects will also be deleted.
Revoke Guest Access – To remove the guest user access to an object, select an object in the list and click Revoke guest access on the ribbon or click More actions > Revoke guest access.
Open in Browser – To open the object in SharePoint, click the link of the object, or click More actions > Open in browser.
If you want to clear all the SharePoint permission changes that you made, click Reset all on the ribbon. Note that the recommended actions that have been executed cannot be reset.
Note that you may see one or more recommended renewal actions in the Recommendation area, and these actions are recommended by your IT administrator to perform during the SharePoint permission renewal process. If you agree to perform the renewal actions, click Do it for me. AvePoint Cloud Governance will execute the corresponding action after you submit the renewal task.
