Export to PDFAutomatic Group/Team Lifecycle Management tasks include Microsoft 365 Group/Microsoft Team inactivity threshold tasks and Microsoft 365 Group/Microsoft Team lease expiration tasks. These tasks will be automatically generated if the following conditions are met:
A group or team has a lease or inactivity threshold enabled.
The group/team lease has expired, or the group/team inactivity threshold is reached.
As a group/team contact or owner, you are responsible for managing the automatically generated lifecycle task for a group or team. The task is added to the Confirmations section in your To-do list or the My tasks report.
Apart from the Continue access action, other actions will be available only when your administrator enables the corresponding lifecycle actions in group/team policies.
Refer to the instructions in the sections below to manage group/team inactivity threshold tasks and group/team lease expiration tasks.
For a group/team inactivity threshold task, you can continue allowing access to the Microsoft 365 Group/Microsoft Team and the corresponding group team site. Follow the steps below:
You can view a group/team inactivity threshold task in the following areas:
In your To-do list, locate a task and click the view button to go to the task details panel.
In the My tasks report, locate a task and click the summary to view the task details in a panel.
Click Continue access on the ribbon.
A panel appears asking for your confirmation. You can enter comments in the panel. When you finish, click OK to confirm.
For a group/team lease expiration task, you can request to extend the lease of the Microsoft 365 Group or Microsoft Team. Follow the steps below:
You can view a group/team lease expiration task in the following areas:
In your To-do list, locate a task and click the view button to go to the task details panel.
In the My tasks report, locate a task and click the summary to view the task details in a panel.
Click Extend lease on the ribbon. The Extend lease of {Workspace Name} page appears.
The lease extension period is displayed if your administrator has defined it. If the field is available to configure, define the amount of time to extend the lease period.
You can enter comments for the lease extension. When you finish, click Submit.
For both team inactivity threshold tasks and team lease expiration tasks, you can request to archive the Microsoft Team. Follow the steps below:
You can view a team inactivity threshold task or lease expiration task in the following areas:
In your To-do list, locate a task and click the view button to go to the task details panel.
In the My tasks report, click the summary to view the task details in a panel.
Click Archive Team on the ribbon.
A pop-up window appears asking for your confirmation. Click OK, and the Archive Team page will appear.
You can enter comments for the team archiving. When you finish, click Submit.
For both group/team inactivity threshold tasks and group/team lease expiration tasks, you can request to delete the Microsoft 365 Group or Microsoft Team. Follow the steps below:

In your To-do list, locate a task and click the view button to go to the task details panel.
In the My tasks report, click the summary to view the task details in a panel.
Click Delete on the ribbon.
A pop-up window appears asking for your confirmation. Click OK, and the Delete {Workspace Name} page will appear.
You can enter comments for the group/team deletion. When you finish, click Submit.
