Download this articleCloud Backup for IaaS + PaaS provides a discover tool to help you accurately calculate the protected data size across your services, ensuring proper subscription planning.
This tool offers a script package to calculate data size for multiple services, including Azure VM, Azure Storage, Azure SQL Database, Azure PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB, Azure DevOps, Amazon EC2, Azure VMware, SQL Server, Google VM instance, and Google Cloud Storage. Download the script package here.
It is recommended to download the DevOps script to a separate empty folder and run it from there, outside of any existing repository folder, to avoid unexpected issues.
The capacity-based subscription cost is determined by the size of the protected data. Here's how we charge based on protected data size across different services:
Azure VM - Sum of disk sizes.
Azure Storage - Size of file shares and blobs in your storage account.
Azure SQL Database - Data space allocated size.
Azure Postgre SQL - Sum of database sizes within PostgreSQL Flexible Servers.
Cosmos DB - Sum of database sizes.
Azure DevOps - Comprehensive total, including 1GB base allocation for organizational metadata, wiki attachments sizes, work item attachments sizes, and repository sizes.
The discover tool can only calculate the repository sizes. Since it doesn't capture wiki and work item attachments sizes, it's recommended to add a cost buffer to your subscription capacity to account for these attachments storage requirements.
Azure VMware - Sum of disk sizes in private clouds.
SQL Server - Sum of database sizes.
Google VM Instance - Sum of disk sizes.
Google Cloud Storage - Sum of bucket sizes.
