Export to PDFThe AvePoint Cloud Governance connector in Power Automate offers automation and integration of Cloud Governance functions through Power Automate. You can use the Cloud Governance connector in Power Automate to automate your working processes. The Cloud Governance connector is available in the commercial and GCC versions of Power Automate.
To connect to Cloud Governance in Power Automate, authentication with Cloud Governance API is required. Complete the following steps to obtain a client secret to authenticate with the Cloud Governance API:
Navigate to AvePoint Cloud Governance System settings > API authentication profiles and click Create on the ribbon.
Enter a name for the profile.
Configure a duration for the client secret. The start time is the profile created time. Enter a number in the text box and select Days, Weeks, Months, or Years as the unit.
Choose whether to Define what services can be called using this Cloud Governance API access token. With this option enabled, click Add, select the services that can be called using this Cloud Governance API access token from the Services panel, and then click Add to define the services.
You can also delete a service already added to the list by clicking the delete (
) button.
Click Save to save your configurations.
After you click Save, the Note window appears for you to view the API authentication details. Click the copy (
) button to copy the client secret to your clipboard. The client secret will be used when you connect to Cloud Governance in Power Automate.
The client secret will only be displayed one time, and you cannot retrieve it after you close the window.

AvePoint Cloud Governance provides several templates in Power Automate and each template contains specific triggers or actions. Apart from Cloud Governance triggers or actions, the templates also contain the triggers or actions of other connectors, such as SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.
To create a flow from a Cloud Governance template, complete the following steps:
Navigate to the Power Automate Home page or click Templates on the left navigation pane.
Enter AvePoint Cloud Governance in the search box and press Enter on the keyboard. You can see all Cloud Governance templates.
Read the template titles and choose a template that meets your business process. Click the template to create a flow from this template.
View the template details. If you are using the Cloud Governance connector in Power Automate for the first time, you need to set up a connection. Configure the following settings to set up the connection:
Connection name – Enter a name for the connection.
Username – Enter your username, for example: someone@contoso.com. Note that you must be a Cloud Governance administrator.
Password – Enter the client secret that you got after configuring the API authentication profile.
Click Continue.
Configure the required fields in each step. You can also add additional triggers and actions as you require and configure the corresponding fields.
After you configure the whole flow, click Save to save all your configurations.
To add Cloud Governance triggers or actions to your business flow in Power Automate, go to Power Automate, and then complete the following steps:
Select one of the following options:
Click Connectors on the left navigation pane. Then, enter AvePoint Cloud Governance in the search box and press Enter on the keyboard. Click the Cloud Governance connector in the search result, and then a list of Cloud Governance triggers is displayed. Click a trigger to start a flow.
When you configure a step in a flow, enter AvePoint Cloud Governance in the search box and press Enter on the keyboard. A list of Cloud Governance triggers appears on the Triggers tab and a list of Cloud Governance actions appears on the Actions tab. Click a trigger or action to add it to the flow.
If you are using the Cloud Governance connector in Power Automate for the first time, you need to set up a connection with Cloud Governance before configuring the Cloud Governance triggers or actions. You can select the Microsoft Entra ID or Client Secret as the Authentication Type to be used for authentication. The user account used for authentication must be a Cloud Governance application administrator.
After you select Microsoft Entra ID, click Sign in to consent to the Cloud Governance Connector app. As an IT administrator, when you consent to the app, we recommend that you select the Consent on behalf of your organization option and consent with the Microsoft 365 Global Administrator account. Thus, other users in your tenant do not need to consent to the app.
After you select Client Secret, configure the following settings to set up the connection:
Username – Enter your username, for example: someone@contoso.com. Note that you must be a Cloud Governance administrator.
Client Secret – Enter the client secret that you got after configuring the API authentication profile.
To configure a flow, you can add multiple triggers and actions. Once you add a step, configure the corresponding required fields for a trigger or action.
After you configure the whole flow, click Save to save all your configurations.

In a Create Team service, the Business users define rules to get group/team members dynamically option is selected in the Group/Team Members field, and the IT administrator chooses Assign by IT Admin to assign team members by themselves. Then, this service is not available to be selected and will not be shown when the IT administrator adds an action and selects a service.
