Appendix I - About Exchange Web Services API

Exchange Web Services is going to retire on October 1, 2026. See Retirement of Exchange Web Services in Exchange Online for more details.

AvePoint Cloud Governance uses Microsoft Graph API as the default and recommended method for group/team provisioning and management. However, you can choose to use Exchange Web Services API if you still use the classic admin center and you have the following requirements for group/team management:

Create groups or teams in multiple domains.

    - Set the language of the welcome email that Microsoft sends to the group mailbox upon the group/team provisioning. - Send copies of conversations and events to group/team members’ inboxes. - Allow users outside your organization to send emails to groups/teams.

However, Exchange Web Services API has limitations. To avoid the issues, you can choose to use Microsoft Graph API for group/team provisioning and use Exchange Web Services API for group/team management. You can enable this method by configuring an impersonation account and enabling the Invoke Microsoft Graph APIs to create groups/teams option. For details, refer to Configure Impersonation Accounts.

Refer to the table below for the scenarios and issues.
