General Updates

  • The Home interface has been upgraded for a better user experience in the new user interface.

  • The AvePoint Online Services portal now displays the following new logo.

  • You can now click the Notification center (Button: Notification center) button on the upper-right corner of the page to view announcements in AvePoint Online Services. Each announcement now displays a summary.

  • AvePoint Online Services notification email templates have been updated to correspond to the changes in the new UI.

  • You can now click the Quick start (Button: Quick start) button on the upper-right corner of the page to view the Quick start wizard. Follow the instructions in the wizard to connect your tenant, create app profiles, create scan profiles, and manage users/groups.

  • For issues that you may encounter when you sign in to AvePoint Online Services, the system will now display pages with corresponding prompt messages.

  • AvePoint Online Services now displays the Subscription agreement pop-up window according to the services for which you start a trial in the Store.

  • For Salesforce tenants, the separate sign-up page is no longer available. The common sign-up page can now be used to register accounts in AvePoint Online Services.

  • In AvePoint Online Services > Store, when you click Start trial to get a 30-day trial subscription for the Cloud Backup for Salesforce service, the system will no longer check whether your organization has configured the required apps.

  • AvePoint Online Services no longer supports Invite support for the following services: Cloud Management, Cloud Archiving, and Classic DocAve Backup.

What’s New in Management?

  • To get started with AvePoint Online Services, you can now navigate to Management > Tenant management and click Connect tenant to register your tenants into AvePoint Online Services. If a tenant is marked with the New connection recommended label, it is recommended to select the tenant and click Reconnect to recover the connection.

  • You can now navigate to Management > App management to configure app profiles. When configuring an app profile, you can select services first, and then choose Classic mode, Modern mode, or Custom mode to configure an app profile.

    • Classic mode includes the method of consenting to one app which can be used by multiple services.

    • Modern mode is supported by all AvePoint cloud services, which is the recommended mode if you want to use the method of consenting to one app for one service. In this mode, the related apps are listed in a service-based view. You can consent to apps separately for the selected services.

    • Custom mode is recommended only for users who have identified use cases with extremely limited required permissions. In this mode, you can manually create and maintain custom apps in your environment.

  • The service account authentication method now is only supported by the following services:

    • Cense

    • Classic DocAve Backup

    • Cloud Archiving

    • Cloud Backup for Azure

    • Cloud Backup for Dynamics 365

    • Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365

    • Cloud Governance

    • Cloud Management

    • Cloud Records

    • Entrust

    • Fly

    • Policies for Microsoft 365

You can navigate to App management > Service account to configure service account profiles. Note that the new UI no longer supports configuring MFA service account profiles and account pools, if your organization has configured these settings in the classic UI, you can click the corresponding link and switch to the classic UI interface to update settings.

  • The following interfaces have been upgraded for a better user experience in the new UI:

    • Agent management

    • User management

    • Encryption management

  • AvePoint Online Services now supports the following new services apps for the Modern mode in App management:

    • Cense

    • Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365 (All permissions)

    • Cloud Governance for Microsoft 365, Cloud Governance for Exchange, Cloud Governance for Power Platform, and Cloud Governance Delegated app

    • Cloud Management services for Microsoft 365

    • Cloud Records

    • Fly for Power Platform and Fly migration for Google

  • If your organization uses the Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365 or Cloud Governance service, in App management, you can now configure an app profile to create a Yammer app in your Azure AD.

  • In Management > User management, when you assign the Cloud Backup for Google Workspace service to Tenant users, you can now assign the Standard user permission to users.

  • If your organization has purchased the Gmail module in the subscription for the Fly service, you can now configure the Fly migration for Google app profile in Management > App management.

  • If your organization has purchased the Power Platform module in the subscription for Fly, you can now configure the Fly for Power Platform app profile in Management > App management.

  • If your organization has purchased the Power Apps module in the subscription for Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365, you can now create/re-authorize the Delegated app to add the Power Apps permission to the app.

  • In App management, you may need to consent to an app for the AvePoint Online Services common service app when you select any of the following services to configure an app profile: Cloud Insights, Cloud Management services (includes Cloud Management, Cloud Archiving, and Classic DocAve Backup), Policies for Microsoft, and Cloud Records.

  • In App management, when you fail to consent to an app, the system can now display an error page with the corresponding error code.

  • In User management, when you add multiple users/groups in the Add users textbox, you can separate users/groups with a semicolon (;).

  • If you are a service provider, in Management > Service account, you can now select the AvePoint Online Services common service option to configure service account profiles.

What’s New in Auto Discovery?

  • You can now navigate to Auto discovery > Scan profiles to configure scan profiles by completing the following steps: Choose object types, Profile settings, and Configure containers and rules.

  • The following interfaces have been upgraded for a better user experience in the new UI:

    • Containers

    • Job monitor

  • In Auto discovery > Scan profile, when you configure an advanced mode scan profile for scanning Exchange mailbox, OneDrive for Business, SharePoint site, Project site, or Microsoft 365 Group / Microsoft Team / Yammer community objects, you can now configure the Geo location rule for containers.

  • If your organization has purchased the Power Apps module in the subscription for the Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365 service, you can now navigate to Auto discovery > Scan profile to configure a scan profile for scanning Power Apps.

  • In Auto discovery > Scan profile, when you configure an advanced mode scan profile for scanning Google users, you can now configure the Google subscription name rule for containers.

What’s New in Administration?

  • You can now navigate to Administration > Report data collection to configure settings for collecting Data in Microsoft 365 or Activities in Microsoft 365.

  • To export reports of your tenant users’ activities in AvePoint Online Services, you can now navigate to Administration > User activity report.

  • In Administration > Notification, you can now configure the following settings:

    • Authentication notification

    • Auto Discovery notification

    • Subscription notification

    • Announcement notification

    • Email recipient profile

  • To configure security settings such as trusted IP addresses and session timeout settings, you can now navigate to Administration > Security.

  • If you want to register an app in AvePoint Online Services and grant permissions to the app, you can now navigate to Administration > App registrations.

  • You can now navigate to Administration> General settings > Culture settings to configure date format and display language, which will take effect in AvePoint Online Services environment and notification emails.

  • The following interfaces have been upgraded for a better user experience in the new UI:

    • Subscription

    • Data center mappings

  • If your organization has purchased the Gmail module in the subscription for the Fly service, you can now navigate to Administration > Subscription to view subscription information of the Gmail module.

  • If your organization has purchased the Power Apps module in the subscription for the Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365 service, you can now navigate to Administration > Subscription to view subscription information of the Power Apps module.
