    AvePoint Online Services January 2021

    Release Date: January 10, 2021

    • In Report Data Collection, you can now select specific OneDrive for Business or site collection containers for SharePoint Online data collection. AvePoint Online Services will only retrieve your SharePoint Online data from the selected containers and only the data in the selected containers can be used by the following AvePoint cloud services: AvePoint Cloud Insights, AvePoint Cloud Management Report Center, AvePoint Cloud Management Administrator, AvePoint Cloud Archiving, AvePoint Policies for Microsoft 365.

    • In Auto Discovery, when you configure an advanced mode scan profile and set rules for Microsoft 365 Groups & Microsoft Teams and SharePoint Sites, you can now use the Azure AD Attribute of the Creator to scan site collections, groups, and teams.

    • Microsoft 365 supports the South Africa and United Arab Emirates geo locations. By default, the two geo locations are mapped to the North Europe (Ireland) data center of AvePoint Online Services. If your Microsoft 365 tenant has a Multi-Geo license and you have paired a similar license for AvePoint Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365, you can navigate to Auto Discovery > Data Center Mappings > Multi-Geo Data Centers to change the data center mappings.

    • AvePoint cloud services for Microsoft 365 no longer charge licenses for the Microsoft 365 subscription - Office 365 A1 Plus for Student.

    • The app used to connect to your Microsoft 365 tenant has the following new and updated permissions:

      • Starting June 30, 2022, Microsoft will end support for Azure Active Directory Graph API and will no longer provide technical support or security updates, therefore, the following Microsoft Graph API permissions have been added to AvePoint apps to ensure the functionalities of AvePoint Online Services and other AvePoint cloud services when the Azure Active Directory Graph API stops service.

        • Added the Microsoft Graph API application permission Directory.Read.All to the following apps on December 18, 2020: AvePoint Online Services Administration for Office 365, AvePoint Online Services Administration for SharePoint, and AvePoint Online Services Administration for Exchange.

        • Added the following Microsoft Graph API permissions to the AvePoint Online Services Administration for Azure app on January 10, 2021: Directory.ReadWrite.All (application permission), Domain.ReadWrite.All (application permission), Member.Read.Hidden (application permission), and User.Read (delegated permission).

      • If you need to protect your private channel data with AvePoint Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365, you need to re-authorize your AvePoint Online Services Administration for Office 365 app to grant the following Microsoft Graph API application permissions to the app, or manually add the following permissions to your custom Azure app:

        • ChannelMember.ReadWrite.All

        • ChannelMessage.Read.All

        • ChannelSettings.ReadWrite.All

      • The InformationProtectionPolicy.Read.All permission has been replaced with the Microsoft Information Protection Sync Service API application permission UnifiedPolicy.Tenant.Read. Insights for Microsoft 365 needs to use this permission to retrieve information of published sensitivity labels from Microsoft 365. If you want to use the sensitivity label related features in Insights for Microsoft 365, you need to add this permission to your app. To add this permission, you need to re-authorize the AvePoint Online Services Administration for Office 365 app or AvePoint Online Services Administration for SharePoint app or manually add this permission to your custom Azure app and then re-authorize the custom Azure app profile.
