The data protection for Amazon EC2 is general available under the Azure Virtual Machines service after August 2023 release. The restore for Amazon EC2 instances or devices supports restoring to the original location, to another location, or with different settings. The restore job supports instances and devices of both Linux system and Windows system.

To optimize restore performance, AvePoint Cloud Backup for IaaS + PaaS will use EBS snapshots for faster in-place or out-of-place restores. If the EBS snapshots are available, the restore process will use these snapshots, significantly reducing the time required compared to restoring from the backup storage. Before performing the restore job, some permissions need to be added for your account.
