Home > Configure Notifications
Export to PDFWith AvePoint Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365, you can define certain statuses of jobs and reports that will trigger alerts, including backup, restore, retention, exportation, and the unusual activities analysis report.
Your notification settings will be disabled if you are a distributor or partner-managed customer, and your account manager has configured this setting through the AvePoint Elements for Partner platform. If you are a service provider, refer to the Manage Job Notification Profiles section in AvePoint Elements for Partners user guide for details.
The Default service monitoring profile is built-in to control who will receive the following high-level notification emails:
Notification for long-running backup split-off
Notification for legacy backup data reaching retention limit
Notification for removing unprotected backup data
Notification for configuring storage settings for BYOS
For new customers, the Default service monitoring profile will automatically perform a one-time synchronization with the built-in administrators from User managementonce your account is initialized. For existing customers, a one-time synchronization occurred in December 2024 that synchronized administrators from User management. You can edit this profile by navigating to Settings > Notification. After the updates, notifications will be sent according to the Default Service Monitoring profile, rather than to the built-in administrator group.
To create a new notification profile, follow the steps below:
In the Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365 interface, navigate to Settings > Notification.
Click the Create notification profile button. The Create a new notification profile pane appears.
Enter the name and description for this notification profile. The description is optional.
In the Send email notifications to the following email addresses section, enter the email addresses in the text box to configure the recipients for the email notifications. You can enter the email addresses of users or groups. For groups, you must ensure the group you entered can receive emails. Otherwise, the group members will not be notified of the activities in AvePoint Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365.
In the Send the email notifications for the following rules section, configure the types of notifications to send:
Job status – Turn on the toggle to enable email notifications for job status. Then select which job statuses (Backup, Restore, Export, and Retention) will trigger notifications. You can select whether to send notifications when potential ransomware attacks or unusual activities are detected.
Bi-weekly coverage report – Configure whether to enable bi-weekly email notifications for Coverage report summaries including backup status, protected data size, and job details.
Subscription consumption – For capacity-based subscriptions with multi-Geo enabled, you can turn on the toggle to configure regional storage quota and notification thresholds for the region you are currently logged into. Notifications will be sent when storage usage reaches the specified thresholds.
The quota you set is for notification purposes only and does not affect the actual regional storage.
Click Save when you finish configuring the profile.
