Restore Exchange Online Data

    With AvePoint Cloud Backup Express, you can restore Exchange Online mailboxes to their original location.

    Complete the steps below to restore Exchange Online mailboxes:

    1. Navigate to the Restore > AvePoint Cloud Backup Express page, and then click the Exchange Online tile.

    2. In the Name field, enter the keywords in the email or display name to search for the mailbox, and then select the mailbox that you would like to restore from the drop-down list.

    3. In the Backup time from field, click the Calendar button to select a start date. You can click Reset if you want to reset the settings. Then click the Clock button to define the start time. You can Clear the time or click Done to confirm the setting. If you only define the Backup time from field, the default value of the Backup time to field is the current time.

    4. In the Backup time to field, click the Calendar button to select an end date. You can click Reset if you want to reset the settings. Then click the Clock button to define the end time. You can Clear the time or click Done to confirm the setting. If you only define the Backup time to field, the default value of the Backup time from field is the first date for the customer to use AvePoint Cloud Backup Express.

    5. Click Search to search for the Exchange Online mailboxes according to the conditions you configured. The search conditions and the search results are displayed. You can edit the search conditions and click Search to adjust the search results.

    6. Find and select the mailbox you want to restore from the search results. In the Recovery point column, the latest recovery point is displayed by default. You can click the time to change the recovery point and select a backup job that backed up this mailbox at the status that you want to restore. Click the Restore button above the search result table to restore all selected mailboxes.

    7. If necessary, you can enter your comments for this restore job in the Description text box.

    8. Choose where to restore the backup data to:

      • Restore the data to its original location – Restore the backup data to its original backup location.

      • Restore all deleted mailbox items to a separate folder instead of their original locations – Restore deleted mailbox items to a separate folder named “Restored Items YYYY-MM-DD, HH:MM”. Other backup data will be restored to its original backup location.

    9. Note that the Exchange Online mailboxes only support being restored to where the mailboxes are backed up.

    10. Click Next to view the restore summary.

    11. Click Restore to restore the selected mailboxes.
