Restore OneDrive Data

    With AvePoint Cloud Backup Express, you can restore OneDrive to their original location or new location.

    Complete the steps below to restore OneDrive:

    1. Navigate to the Restore > AvePoint Cloud Backup Express page, and then click the OneDrive tile.

    2. In the Name field, enter the keywords in the email address or display name for the OneDrive user, and then select the user that you would like to restore from the drop-down list.

    3. In the Backup time from field, click the Calendar button to select a start date. You can click Reset if you want to reset the settings. Then click the Clock button to define the start time. You can Clear the time or click Done to confirm the setting. If you only define the Backup time from field, the default value of the Backup time to field is the current time.

    4. In the Backup time to field, click the Calendar button to select an end date. You can click Reset if you want to reset the settings. Then click the Clock button to define the end time. You can Clear the time or click Done to confirm the setting. If you only define the Backup time to field, the default value of the Backup time from field is the first date for the customer to use AvePoint Cloud Backup Express.

    5. Turn on/off the Search from fast recovery points only switch to define if you want to limit your search of the OneDrive user to fast recovery points only.

    6. Click Search to search for the OneDrive user according to the conditions you configured. The search conditions and the search results are displayed. You can edit the search conditions and click Search to adjust the search results.

    7. Find and select the OneDrive user you want to restore from the search results. In the Recovery point column, the latest recovery point is displayed by default. To change the recovery point, click the time and the Change recovery point panel appears. In the panel, select a backup job that backed up this OneDrive at the status that you want to restore and then click Save to confirm your selection.

    8. Note that restore points with Fast recovery tags can provide faster restore performance. In the upper right corner, you have the option to show fast recovery points only. If your search is already limited to fast recovery points, this option will be automatically selected.

    9. Click the Restore button above the search result table to restore the selected OneDrive.

    10. If necessary, you can enter your comments for this restore job in the Description text box.

    11. Choose where to restore the backup data.

      • Original location – Restore the OneDrive to where they are backed up. The entire OneDrive will be replaced by the backup version of the selected recovery point. All file and folder permissions, and metadata will also be reverted to the state at the selected time.

      • New location – Restore the site collections to another destination. A new site collection with a suffix “Rn” (n presents a specific number) in the URL will be created to avoid overwriting current healthy data.

    12. Click Next to view the restore summary.

    13. Click Restore to restore the selected OneDrive.
