Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365 Standalone Tool

Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365 provides a standalone tool with advanced on-demand features:

- Search across mailboxes – Search for emails with specific subjects across mailboxes in your backup. Only applicable to BYOS customers. For additional details, refer to [Introduction to Search Across Mailboxes](#missing-link). - Features for Data export service – Convert your encrypted backup data to readable content. For additional details, refer to [Introduction to Data Export Service](#missing-link).

Introduction to Search Across Mailboxes

If you are a BYOS customer, you can use the Search for Emails across Mailboxes feature in the standalone tool to search through your index data to compile a list of mailboxes with specific messages. The search results offer a target to manually purge information if needed. For details, refer to the .

Introduction to Data Export Service

The Data Export Service is provided to AvePoint customers in the following instances:

- Customers who want to archive their legacy backup data as the data comes to the end of the retention period - Customers who plan to end their subscription to AvePoint Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365 and remove their backup data

Note that if you only want to export a smaller sample set of data to plain file format, use the Export button in the restore wizard. For details, refer to Export and Download Your Data.

- For customers using AvePoint-provided default storage AvePoint will retain the backup data in AvePoint storage for 15 days, subject to the terms of your service agreement if the subscription to AvePoint Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365 service ends. The backup data in AvePoint storage can be exported to your own storage as a paid service. You must submit an export request if you wish to export data from AvePoint Storage. - For BYOS customers If your subscription is the BYOS type, ending the subscription will not delete the backup data stored in your own storage. You do not need to pay an export fee.

Additionally, you must export the encryption key before your move away from this product, as you will need the encryption key to convert the encrypted backup data to readable content, and you will not be able to sign in to the Cloud Backup interface once your subscription has ended. For details on exporting encryption keys, refer to Configure Security Settings.

After the backup data is ready on your own device, you can use the to convert your Exchange Online mailboxes, Microsoft 365 Group mailboxes, Public Folders, OneDrive, Teams channel conversations, Teams chats, SharePoint Online/Microsoft 365 Group/Teams/Viva Engage site collections, and Power BI workspaces backup data encrypted in AvePoint format to readable content.

*Note: Ensure your backup data stores in the supported devices: FTP, SFTP, Microsoft Azure Blob storage, Amazon S3 storage, Amazon S3-Compatible Storage, Dropbox, and Google Cloud Storage.
