AvePoint Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365 October 2024

Release Date for the Commercial Environment: October 13, 2024

Release Date for the US Government Environment: October 20, 2024

General Updates

  • The public APIs provided by AvePoint Online Services will be retired in the future. We recommend using the modern APIs to get the audit records, subscription consumption, and job information for Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365.

  • For errors with the error code SP-OneNoteBackupFailed, Microsoft has updated its API, allowing OneNote section files to be protected. If you previously contacted AvePoint support to set the status of these OneNote files with errors to Skipped, you can now reach out to AvePoint support to continue protecting them.

  • For restore and export jobs in progress, AvePoint Cloud Backup now provides additional information by displaying successful items and items with errors on the Job monitor > Job details page.

  • Administrators can now control access to message search and browsing with the Teams Chat Restore wizard in Settings > Security.

  • Administrators can now enable the approval process for data deletion requests from Manually delete backup data and Data subject access requests in Settings > Security. Once enabled, this process cannot be disabled due to security measures.

  • Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365 now supports folder-level content deletion, in addition to document-level deletion, for SharePoint Online backup data.

  • When restoring Exchange Online data protected by AvePoint Cloud Backup Express, you can choose to restore all deleted mailbox items to a separate folder named "Restored Items YYYY-MM-DD, HH:MM" instead of their original locations.

  • When restoring Exchange Online backup data in the Calendar mode, the Sent from and Sent time columns are now available to provide additional information about mailbox items.

  • The user experience for filters in Job monitor and System auditor has been improved.

  • The out-of-policy logic for AvePoint Cloud Backup for Power Platform has been enhanced. When your enterprise license is out of policy, backups will stop after 90 days.

  • A Deletion history tab has been added to Data management > Remove unprotected data to display the deletion records of unprotected objects whose backup data has been deleted.

  • When restoring Exchange Online backup data, you can now choose to restore backup data for any previously deleted content within the current backup cycle.

  • When restoring Exchange Online mailboxes in the Restore queue, they will be restored sequentially from first to last as listed. The objects in the Restore queue are ordered by their addition time, from oldest to newest. The batch import maintains the order of objects as specified in the uploaded template.

  • The Microsoft 365 unusual activities analysis report now includes records for deleted files in the downloaded list.

  • For objects no longer in the backup scope, users with Restore permission to the last container where the object existed can now restore its backup data, not just administrators. Note that only objects removed after the August release are supported.

ReCenter for Microsoft 365

  • The ReCenter portal now supports Spanish.

  • The ReCenter landing page will only display the tiles your administrators are subscribed to.
