AvePoint Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365 August 2023

Release Date for the Commercial Environment: August 6, 2023

Release Date for the US Government Environment: August 13, 2023

General Updates

The following new features and improvements are made to the new experience of the Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365:

  • The old user interface will be unavailable after the August release.

  • Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365 supports using the free Microsoft Graph API to protect Teams Chats. You can go to the Settings > Backup page to choose from the Graph API or the Teams Export API model B for Teams Chat backup. Using Graph API can potentially result in less optimal performance compared to the Teams Export API model B. If you choose to use the Teams Export API for Teams Chat service, you will be notified of the costs you may incur before enabling Teams Chat service.

    NOTE

Teams Chat service is temporarily unavailable for customers using Microsoft 365 operated by 21Vianet in China. Teams in the 21Vianet environment are not currently supported for protection under Teams service.

  • AvePoint Cloud Backup for Power Platform has a new standalone subscription which protects all your Power Platform objects.

  • The Coverage report has been added to Reporting to show what has been protected according to service types, the protected data size of each service, and backup trends.

  • The Restore analytics report is added to Reporting > Job analytics to show the number of restore jobs according to service types performed within the last 7, 30, 90 or 180 days and the restore trend.

  • Through the Settings > End-user Restore page in the Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365 interface, you can now choose whether to allow ReCenter users to restore Power BI reports and define the roles for who can perform these restores via ReCenter.

  • You can now restore the backup data of OneDrive for Business or a SharePoint Online site to a Team's team site.

  • If you are using your own Azure storage (BYOS), you can choose to archive your backups after they have been in storage for a defined period of time. To learn more and enable this feature, contact the AvePoint support team.

ReCenter for Microsoft 365

  • ReCenter now supports end user restoration of Power BI reports. Administrators can configure permission settings in Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365 to control which users can restore Power BI reports via ReCenter. After the jobs are finished, end users can go to Request history to view job reports.
