AvePoint Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365 February 2025

Release Date for the Commercial Environment: February 9, 2025

Release Date for the US Government Environment: February 16, 2025

General Updates

  • New navigation updates are being rolled out across the Confidence Platform, delivering a more intuitive, consistent, and efficient user experience. In Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365, the left navigation pane has been updated to include the Activity and System sections. The Activity section now includes the Report center (renamed from Reporting) and Job monitor, and the System section includes Settings, System auditor, and Help.

  • Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365 now supports Google Cloud Storage for customers with a BYOS subscription.

  • For restore jobs run by AvePoint Cloud Backup Express, the finish time and duration are now available in Job monitor and the job report.

  • The Manually delete backup data feature has been enhanced, allowing you to easily search and delete documents and folders across Team sites, Group sites, and private/shared channel sites. This enhancement integrates these sites under the SharePoint Online module, making global site collection searches more seamless.

  • When restoring Exchange Online mailbox items in the Calendar mode, you can now sort the Name, Sent from, and Sent time columns in either ascending or descending order.

  • BYOS users using Amazon S3 storage will now see an update in the storage class from S3 Standard to S3 Glacier Instant Retrieval. Starting with the February release, all new data will automatically be stored in the S3 Glacier Instant Retrieval class.

  • The Last Modified By column has been added to the list of files with unusual activities now showing the email addresses of users who last added or modified the files.

  • The AvePoint Graph Modern API now supports retrieving basic information about unusual activities in Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365.

Resolved Known Issue

  • Some customers with Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365 Standard licenses had their Recordings folder backup settings reset on June 11, 2023. This caused some recovery points to be missing. The bug has been fixed, and the settings have been restored as of March 26, 2025. The next backup for the Recordings folder will be a full backup to try to cover all the missing contents.

ReCenter for Microsoft 365

  • New navigation updates are being rolled out across the Confidence Platform, delivering a more intuitive, consistent, and efficient user experience. In the left navigation pane of ReCenter, a new System section has been added, and the Help link to the user guide has been relocated to this section.

  • For Exchange Online and OneDrive, you can now use the Tree mode to easily navigate and locate the data you wish to restore in ReCenter.

  • In ReCenter, you can now search for private and shared channel files in SharePoint Online to restore.
