AvePoint Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365 November 2020

    Release Date: November 8, 2020

    • With the update announced by Microsoft for Microsoft Teams, all new Teams meeting recordings will be saved to OneDrive and SharePoint (rolling out January 11, 2021, as detailed in the latest update) unless you delay this change by modifying your organization's Teams Meeting policies and explicitly setting them to Stream. Microsoft will create the Recordings folder or use the existing Recordings folder in your OneDrive for Business (user’s OneDrive for Business/Recordings) or the Recordings folder in Documents library of Teams channel (Channel name/Documents/Recordings) to store recording files. In order to test the new Stream storage locations at scale and include all new metadata introduced by these recordings, AvePoint Cloud Backup released an update on November 19, 2020 to exclude the Recordings folder from backups. If the Recordings folder contains files other than the Team meetings’ recording files, these files will be excluded as well. We are working on supporting recording files and plan to introduce this support in an upcoming release.

    • Customers using BYOS license or using default AvePoint storage with unlimited data retention license can configure data retention policies for each container specifically.

    • Enhanced the security to access the password for extracting the content of an Export job. Only the users who started the export job and the e-mail recipients for restore and export jobs can access the password for that export job through Job Monitor.

    • Enhanced the performance on loading backup data for time-based restore.

    Resolved Known Issue

    • Data exporting jobs will no longer fail if any item to be exported to the cache storage has a destination URL equal to or greater than 400.
