Use the End User Restore Add-in

End User Restore for Dynamics 365 requires users who run the restore job to be the Record Owners with a security role that has the following rights to the entity:

    • Create - Restores the deleted records.

    • Write - Updates the existing records.

    • Append - Restores the lookup fields for related records.

    • Append To - Restores the lookup fields for related records.

Follow the steps below to restore the records or fields from Dynamics 365:

    1. Log into Dynamics 365 and find the record that you want to restore. Ensure the entity is protected by AvePoint Cloud Backup for Dynamics 365 and has audit settings enabled.

    2. Click AVEPOINT CLOUD BACKUP on the command bar. The AvePoint Cloud Backup for Dynamics 365 interface is opened in a new window.

    3. In the RESTORE tab, click the calendar icon in the Backup Time Range field, and then select the start time and end time from the calendars. Click OK. In the Property Value Keyword field, you can enter the keyword in the data field value for the filter.

    4. Click Search to search for the backup data. The records that meet your search conditions where you are the Record Owner will be searched out. You will get up to 50 search results displayed in the table.

      Note the following:

      • If a record is deleted from Dynamics 365, the Audit Logs tab will be unavailable. You cannot use audit logs to revert certain data field changes when a record does not exist in Dynamics 365.

      • If a record is deleted from Dynamics 365, its Deletion event audit log may have been backed up and can be displayed in the search results for restore.

      • If a record is deleted from Dynamics 365 after being backed up and then included in the backup again, when you search for this record, you will get two items: one is for the backup of the record, and the other is the Deletion event audit log. The Deletion event audit log will have several properties not showing.

    5. Select the record that you want to restore and select the Recovery Point for the record to restore to its backup state. You can click the Restore button above the table to restore the selected records to their selected recovery point, or you can click Compare button to compare the backup data with the current data in Dynamics 365.

    6. In the Comparison pane, the Field Comparison tab displays the comparison between the backup data for the selected recovery point and the current data in Dynamics 365. You can choose to show all the comparison results or only show the differences; the Audit Logs tab displays all the events in the audit logs when backed up. You can select an event and then click Restore to revert the changes. The Old Value in the selected audit log item will be restored to Dynamics 365.

      NOTE

If you want to restore specific fields for a record while comparing the record’s Backup Value and Current Value, switch the Select fields to restore for this record button, select the checkboxes next to the fields you want to restore, and click Restore to restore the selected fields.

The End User Restore job records will be displayed in the ACTIVITY REPORT tab of the AvePoint Cloud Backup for Dynamics 365 add-in page. AvePoint Cloud Backup for Dynamics 365 interface in AvePoint Online Services platform will not show any of the end user restore records.
