Home > Settings > Choose Data Collection Source for Auditor Reports and Usage Reports
Export to PDFYou can choose to use the Office 365 Management Activity APIs to read user activities for the Auditor Reports and Usage Reports, or you can continue using Report Center Auditor Controller jobs to retrieve SharePoint audit logs. We recommend using the Office 365 Management Activity APIs to collect data to avoid the 429 throttling issues. Report Data Collection in AOS also supports selecting specific OneDrive or SharePoint site containers for data collection.
Follow the steps below:
Go to the Report Center > Global Settings.
Find the Data Collection Source for Auditor Reports and Usage Reports field. The Use SharePoint audit logs, configured through Report Center Audit Controller option is selected by default.
Select the Use Office 365 Management Activity API, configure through Report Data Collection in AOS interface option. For details on configuring the Report Data Collection in the AOS interface, refer to Enable Report Data Collection.
If you choose to use SharePoint audit logs, you will use service account authentication to collect Microsoft 365 audit logs; if you choose to use Office 365 management activity APIs, you will use App Profile Authentication to read Microsoft 365 data.
