Home > About Cloud Management Report Center
Export to PDFReport Center provides you with a customizable reporting toolset that will help you gain a comprehensive understanding of your Microsoft 365 resources’ usage, monitor the settings and securities of your tenant, and report on user activities in your tenant and the Cloud Management instance.
Report Center in Cloud Management provides reports in four categories:
Administration Reports, which are currently the Configuration Reports, oversee the settings and securities in your tenant for governance purposes. You can create a report profile to export reports as scheduled to a storage device or SharePoint document libraries and choose whether to receive e-mail notifications for the export report job.
Compliance Reports consist of Auditor Reports, Microsoft 365 Activity Reports, and Accepted Domain Reports.
Auditor Reports support reporting user activities and events in SharePoint Online sites, OneDrive, or Microsoft 365 Groups/Teams team sites, such as User Lifecycle, Site Access, List Deletion, Item Lifecycle, and Permission Changes. Additionally, you can generate custom reports via URL Filter, Action Filter, User Filter, and Type Filter for specific requests. The Auditor Reports can be both displayed on the interface and exported to a datasheet. CSV is the only supported format for the exported Auditor Reports. You can customize the columns for the exported CSV file to define which pieces of information you want to include in the report.
Microsoft 365 Activity Reports support multiple data sources in Microsoft 365 tenants, such as Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Sway, Viva Engage, Stream, Flow, Project Online, Power BI, Security and Compliance Center, Skype for Business, CRM, Power Apps, Microsoft Forms, and AIR in Microsoft Defender. It uses Office 365 Management Activity API to collect audit data from your tenant. Therefore, you need to check the Report Data Collection settings in AOS before you use this report.
Microsoft 365 Activity Log Reports allow you to export raw data from Microsoft 365 activity logs. To enable this report for your subscription, contact the AvePoint Support team. This report uses Office 365 Management Activity API to retrieve audit data from your tenant. Before using this report, ensure that the Report Data Collection settings in AOS are properly configured.
Accepted Domain Reports support exporting the information of the accepted domains in all tenants or the specific tenants. You can choose to export the report to a predefined export location and customize the exported file name. If your export location is a SharePoint Online document library, you can also choose to export reports to a .zip file. When you export the report, you can select to break permission inheritance for the libraries, assign Full Control permission level to the site collection administrator and site owners.
Auditor Reports and Usage Reports can also use the Management APIs to collect data as a report data source. For details on data collection, refer to Data Collection.
Usage Reports analyze the site usage and user behaviors on your sites. It currently provides five report types: Active Users, Download Ranking, Site Activity Ranking, Site Visitors and Activity, and Document Last Accessed Time. You can choose to use the Audit Controller jobs to collect SharePoint audit data or use the Management APIs for report data collection.
DocAve Auditor Report in DocAve Reports provides real-time monitoring in your Cloud Management instance for user activities and events.
Report Center data tree displays SharePoint Online Sites containers, OneDrive containers, and Microsoft 365 Groups/Teams team sites containers. The containers are configured through AvePoint Online Services > Auto discovery for categorizing object registration. You can check the rules in the Auto discovery scan profile for the objects that can be registered to these containers. For details, refer to Auto discovery.
In the data tree, you can select specific containers, site collections, sites, lists/libraries, or items/documents to report or select them all. Note that you cannot select the nodes at different object levels at the same time.
The Select All option is available in the following two places in the My Registered Sites data tree:
Select All option under the My Registered Sites node allows users to include all the existing SharePoint Sites containers, OneDrive containers, and Microsoft 365 Group/Teams team sites containers, and at the same time include any new containers or the SharePoint Sites, OneDrive, or Microsoft 365 Groups/Teams team sites newly registered through AOS after the plan is saved.
Select All option under a container allows users to include all the existing objects within the container, and at the same time, include all new objects that are added to this container after the plan is saved.
Report Center supports the following data collection methods:
| Data Collection | Report Types |
|---|---|
| Use Management API, configured through Report Data Collection in AOS interface (Recommended) | Auditor Reports Usage Reports Microsoft 365 Activity Reports Microsoft 365 Activity Log Reports The Item Title and List URL cannot be retrieved due to an API limitation. To identify the items, refer to the URLs. The list level objects cannot be selected for Auditor Reports. Important: These reports have a 2-hour delay in data availability. Please consider this delay when reviewing or analyzing activity data. |
| Use SharePoint audit logs, configured through Report Center Audit Controller If your tenant blocks access from apps that don’t use modern authentication, the Audit Controller function does not work. | Auditor Reports and Usage Reports |
| Use the service account or app profile in Auto Discovery to collect data If the service account you use has MFA enabled, the group attributes, group members, and user attributes cannot be reported in the Configuration Reports. | Configuration Reports |
| Real-time | DocAve Auditor report |
| Exchange Online PowerShell | Accepted Domain Reports |
For the Auditor Reports and Usage Reports, you can select to use Office 365 Management APIs to collect data or to configure Audit Controller for data retrieval. To avoid the 429 throttling issues, AvePoint recommends using Office 365 Management APIs as the data collection source.
If you want to use Audit Controller for data retrieval, you must ensure the objects in your report scope are scanned via service account authentication. The service account must meet the permission requirements listed in the Required Permissions section.
A report profile for Configuration Reports, Auditor Reports, and Microsoft 365 Activity Reports, or a Usage Reports plan may consist of the report scope selection, time range settings, export report settings, notification settings, reporting data types, or filters, etc. It makes the report settings reusable, and it can work as a scheduled task to export reports automatically to your desired storage or SharePoint document libraries.
Cloud Management Concurrent Jobs Limitation
AvePoint Cloud Management can support a maximum of five concurrent jobs for a tenant. These five jobs can run concurrently from different products within AvePoint Cloud Management.
The AvePoint Cloud Governance service in the AvePoint Online Services platform empowers end users with self-service provisioning and content management under control. AvePoint Cloud Management can work with AvePoint Cloud Governance to provide advanced management for the auto-provisioned site collections and sites.
Includes site collections created via AvePoint Cloud Governance requests in an Audit Controller plan upon site collection provisioning. Events in the site collections are recorded and collected so you can generate and view Auditor Reports in the AvePoint Cloud Management Report Center. For details on the related AvePoint Cloud Governance features, see Site Collection Policy.
If you would like to obtain the license for AvePoint Cloud Governance, contact your AvePoint account manager.
