Microsoft 365 Activity Log Reports

Microsoft 365 Activity Log Reports support obtaining raw data from Microsoft 365 activity logs. To enable this report, contact AvePoint support for assistance.

NOTE

To use Microsoft 365 Activity Log Reports in Report Center, you must go to AvePoint Online Services interface to enable the report data collection feature. For details, refer to the Enable Report Data Collection section in the AvePoint Online Services User Guide.

The table below shows the supported data sources classified by the content types of Office 365 Management Activity API.

Create a Profile

Follow the steps below to create a report profile for Microsoft 365 Activity Log Reports:

  1. Navigate to Compliance Reports > Microsoft 365 Activity Log Reports.

  2. Please specify a time range – In the time range configuration area, choose one of the following options:

    • Duration – Check the Duration checkbox, and then select the time range you want from the drop-down menu. There are seven durations provided, respectively This Month, Last Month, Last 2 Months, This Week, Last Week, Last 2 Weeks, Today, and Yesterday.

    • Last __ Days/Weeks/Months – Enter an integer into the text box and select by Days/Weeks/Months from the drop-down menu. For example, if you enter 10 in the text box and select Days from the drop-down menu, and then you run the job, you will collect the data of the latest 10 days.

    • Custom – Check the Custom checkbox to customize the time range.

    NOTE

    The Last Month/Week or the Last X Months/Weeks/Days will not include the data of this month/week/day in the report. For example, if the current date is April 15, 2022, the Last Month refers to March 2022; Last 12 Months refers to March 1, 2021 to April 1, 2022 (Not including April 1); Last 14 days refers to April 1 to April 14.

  3. If you want to run the report as a scheduled task, go to step 2. Please configure a schedule (Optional) area. In this area, you can configure the schedule to generate the report, and additionally, you can choose to export the generated report to the configured report format and storage location. Follow the steps below to configure a schedule and export report settings:

    1. Select the Configure the schedule myself option.

    2. Configure the start time, report interval, and end time for the schedule settings to generate a report.

    3. If you want to export the generated report, select the Export report option. The Export Report Settings section appears.

    4. In the Export Report Settings section, ZIP is selected in the Report Format. The raw log data will be exported to TXT files and zipped for exportation and download.

    5. Select an existing Export Location, and then you can click View to access the detailed information of the selected export location. You can also choose to configure a new export location, click New Export Location in the drop-down list, and follow the instructions in Create and Edit Export Locations.

    6. Choose whether to use a custom file name for the exported reports of this report profile. You can select the Use the default file name option or select the Specify a file name and then enter a custom file name for the exported reports.

    7. Choose whether to use the tenant filter to only include the report data of specific tenants. You can use this feature to exclude the data of your test tenants.

  4. Please select a notification profile (Optional) – In this area, you can select a previously configured e-mail notification profile, and then click View to access detailed information or, click New E-mail to create a new e-mail notification profile.

  5. Click Save and Export to save the configuration and then run the export report job. After the job finishes, the report will be exported to the selected export location.
