Recover Your Microsoft 365 Data

Follow the instructions below to recover your Microsoft 365 data:

*Note: Administrators can control whether to allow users to export backup data of specific service types from ReCenter by configuring the end-user restore settings in Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365 / Cloud Archiving / AvePoint Opus.

- Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365 – In **Data recovery**, you can recover backup data of the following object types: - **Exchange Online** – You can search and select backup data of your mailbox, or a shared mailbox you own or are a member of, and then restore the selected backup data to their original locations or export them to a local path. > ***Note**: You can now restore and export in-place archive mailbox backup data for your own mailbox. In Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365, the administrator can configure the end-user restore setting to control whether to allow users to preview, restore, or export user mailbox and shared mailbox backup data from ReCenter. - **OneDrive** – You can search and select the backup data of your OneDrive, and then restore the selected backup data to their original locations or export them to a local path. - > ***Note**: In Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365, the administrator can configure the end-user restore setting to control whether to allow the OneDrive owner to preview, restore, or export OneDrive backup data from ReCenter. - **SharePoint Online** – If you are an owner of a SharePoint Online site (including Microsoft 365 Group team sites), you can search and select backup data, and then restore the selected backup data to their original locations or export them to a local path. - > ***Note**: In Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365, the administrator can configure the end-user restore setting to control whether to allow the site owners to preview, restore, or export SharePoint Online backup data from ReCenter. - **Microsoft 365 Groups** – If you are an owner or member of a Group, you can search and select backup data of the Group team site or Group mailbox, and then restore the selected backup data to their original locations or export them to a local path. - ***Note:** In Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365, the administrator can configure the end-user restore setting to control whether to allow Group owners and members to preview, restore, or export Group backup data from ReCenter. - **Teams** – If you are an owner or member of a Team, you can search and select backup data, and then restore the selected backup data to their original locations or export them to a local path. > ***Note**: In Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365, the administrator can configure the end-user restore setting to control whether to allow Team owners and members to preview, restore, or export Team backup data from ReCenter. - **Teams Chat** – If you are a Teams user, you can search and select backup data, and then export them to a local path. - > ***Note**: In Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365, the administrator can configure the end-user restore setting to control whether to allow Teams users to export Teams Chat backup data from ReCenter. - **Power BI** – If you are one of the administrators/members/contributors of a Workspace, you can search and select backup data, and then restore the selected backup data to their original locations. - > ***Note**: In Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365, the administrator can configure the end-user restore setting to control whether to allow Workspace admins, members, and contributors to restore Power BI backup data from ReCenter. - **Power Automate** – If you are a flow creator or owner, you can search and select backup data, and then export them to a local path. - > ***Note**: In Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365, the administrator can configure the end-user restore setting to control whether to allow the flow creator and owners to export Power Automate backup data from ReCenter. - Cloud Archiving / AvePoint Opus – You can recover archived Microsoft 365 data via the following methods: - In SharePoint Online sites (including Microsoft 365 Group team sites) and OneDrive, you can click the stub (**.url** file, **.aspx** file, **.html** file, or **.txt** file) of an archived file to access the restore page in ReCenter. Then, restore the file to the corresponding location or export it to a local path. - If you are an owner, member, or visitor (only for Cloud Archiving) of a SharePoint Online site (including Microsoft 365 Group team sites), or if you are a member of specific SharePoint groups, in **Data Recovery**, you can search for archived data in the site, and then restore selected archived data to the corresponding location or export them to a local path. - If you are an owner or member of a Microsoft 365 Group / Microsoft 365 Team, in **Data Recovery**, you can search for archived data in the Microsoft 365 Groups / Teams that you have joined, and then restore selected archived data to the corresponding location or export them to a local path.

For more details on recovering your data, refer to the following sections. Note that for items stored in the Azure Archive tier, it may take longer than expected to restore or export the data.

*Note: If you want to export data from ReCenter, but your tenant has reached the maximum limit (100 GB) on the amount of content to be exported per month, ReCenter will display a message to notify you that the data cannot be exported.

Exchange Online

Go to the ReCenter portal, and follow the steps below to recover the backup data of Exchange Online:

*Note: In Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365, the administrator can configure the end-user restore setting to control whether to allow users to preview, restore or export Exchange Online backup data from ReCenter.

  1. Click the Exchange Online tile.

  2. Select whether you want to find the backup data of a User mailbox or a Shared mailbox.

  3. *Note: You can now restore and export in-place archive mailbox backup data for your own mailbox.

  4. If you select User mailbox, you can choose between Search mode or Tree mode to find the data to restore. If you select Shared mailbox, only Search mode is available.

    • Search mode – Use the properties to search for backup data of Exchange Online items. Refer to the steps below:

      1. If you want to search for backup data by their subjects, enter keywords in the search box. For Shared mailbox, click the Shared mailbox field to select a shared mailbox first. If you want to narrow your search by additional conditions, click Advanced to expand the search panel and configure the following conditions:

        • Subject – Enter keywords of a subject.

        • Folder name or location – Enter keywords of a folder name, or enter a folder location (example: folder name\subfolder name).

        • Sent from – Enter keywords of the sender’s display name or email address.

        • Sent to – Enter keywords of the receiver’s display name or email address.

        • Date sent (from) / Date sent (to) – Specify a time range.

        • Turn on/off the switch to define whether to Search exclusively for mail items that contain attachments.

      2. Click Search to search for the backup data. If you want to reset the search conditions, click Reset.

      3. The search results are listed in the table below. A maximum of 2000 search results can be displayed.

      4. The table lists the search results.

      5. You can do the following:

        • For the items with the Email icon, you can click their subjects to open the Preview Email pane and have a preview of the email content. In the Preview Email pane, you can click Restore or Export to recover this item.

        • *Note: The Preview Email feature supports backup data stored on locations of the following storage types: Cool tier on the Microsoft Azure Blob Storage (AvePoint default storage or your own storage), Amazon S3 and Amazon S3-Compatible, Dropbox, IBM Spectrum Protect - S3, and IBM Cloud Object Storage.

        • Emails that have sensitive labels with encrypted data or contain archived data cannot be previewed.

        • By default, the items listed in the search results table are the latest backup data. If your desired items are not in the table and there is a message indicating that you can search for more backup data, click here in the message at the bottom of the table.

        • If you want to modify the search conditions, click the Advanced search button to expand the advanced search panel and configure the search conditions. You can click the Cancel button to clear the current search conditions.

    • Tree mode – Browse and find the backup data of Exchange Online items in your User mailbox or In-place archive mailbox. The Tree mode can load all folders on the tree. The folders that were previously backed up but later deleted from Microsoft 365 are also included in the Tree mode. Refer to the steps below:

      1. Click Try using the tree mode to switch to the Tree mode. If you have backup data for the In-place archive mailbox, you can select either User mailbox or In-place archive mailbox on the User mailbox page, then navigate the tree structure.

      2. On the left side of the page, click your user mailbox or in-place archive mailbox to show the folders in your Exchange Online backup data from the latest recovery point. Selecting a folder from the list will show its contents in the table on the right, along with any sub-folders.

      3. In the search box, you can enter keywords and search for backup data in the current folder by their subjects. If you want to narrow your search by additional conditions, click the Advanced icon to expand the search panel and configure the following conditions:

        • Subject – Enter keywords of a subject.

        • Sent from – Enter keywords of the sender’s display name or email address.

        • Sent to – Enter keywords of the receiver’s display name or email address.

        • Date sent (from) / Date sent (to) – Specify a time range.

        • Turn on/off the switch to define whether to Search exclusively for mail items that contain attachments.

      4. Click Search to search for the backup data. If you want to reset the search conditions, click Reset. The search results are listed on the right side of the page. Note that the search conditions you configure will automatically apply to the folder you select.

  5. To select one or multiple items to be restored/exported, select the checkboxes next to the items. If you want to select all items, select the top checkbox next to Subject in the table.

  6. Click Restore to restore the selected items to their original locations, or click Export to export and download the selected items to a local path.

  7. Once the restore/export job starts, you can go to Request history to view the progress of the job. In Request history, you can also view simple job reports and download exported data. For more details, refer to View Request History and Download Exported Data.

OneDrive

Based on your scenario, refer to the instructions in the following sections.

Recover Archived OneDrive Data from Cloud Archiving / AvePoint Opus

To restore or export an archived file by clicking a stub, follow the instructions below:

  1. Go to your OneDrive and click the stub of an archived file. A stub can be one of the following file types:

    *Note: You can only recover files archived from your own OneDrive. If you click the stub of a file archived from another user’s OneDrive, the ReCenter restore page will not be available to you.

    • .url file – Click the file name to open the restore page of ReCenter in a new tab.

    • .aspx file – Click the file name to open the page for accessing ReCenter, and click the restore link.

    • .html file – Click the file name to open the page for accessing ReCenter, and right-click the restore link to open the restore page in a new tab.

    • .txt file – Click the file name to open the page for accessing ReCenter. Ctrl + click the restore link to open the restore page in a new tab.

  2. On the restore page of ReCenter, you can click Export to export and download the file to a local path. To restore archived data, refer to the instructions below based on your scenario:

    • To restore archived data from Cloud Archiving, click Restore to restore the file to its original location. Note that your administrator in Cloud Archiving can customize the look of the restore page.

    • To restore archived data from AvePoint Opus, refer to the following steps:

      1. Click Restore and select to restore the file to its original location or a different stub location.

        • If you select Restore to original location, jump to Step 3.

        • If you select Restore to another location, the Restore to another location panel appears.

      3. In the Restore to another location panel, you can select a destination from existing stub locations for this file. If the stub location you desired is not listed, select the other option and enter the stub location you want to restore the file to. You can find the stub file in SharePoint and go to Details > Path to copy the path.

      4. *Note: Administrators can control whether users are allowed to restore stub files to another location and configure if users can choose or manually input a destination location in the Restore settings of AvePoint Opus.

      5. The Restore to another location panel.

      6. Click Restore to restore the file.

  3. Follow the instructions below to check the restored file or download the exported file.

    • After the restore job completes, you can go to the file location by clicking Take me there or clicking the URL on the page.

      Note the following:

      • A stub will be removed after the file is successfully restored.

      • Both content and security of the file will be restored.

      • By default, sharing links for the content won’t be restored. Administrators can go to End-user Restore Settings in Cloud Archiving to enable the restoration of sharing links.

      • If the administrator has disabled the option for end-users to restore data from the archives, the restore job will fail.

      • If a file with the same name already exists in the original location, a sequential number suffix (for example, _1) will be added to the name of the restored file.

    • After the export job is completed, follow the steps below to download the exported content:

      *Note: The exported content of a job will be available for download within 7 days. You can also go to Request history to Download content of an export job and Get a password to decrypt the downloaded content.

      1. Click Download content on the restore page.

      2. Once the content has been downloaded, the Get password page will appear. Click Copy to copy the password, and use the password to decrypt the downloaded content. You can also click Get password from the Download drop-down list to open this page.

  4. Simple job reports are recorded in Request history where you can view job reports and download exported data. For more details, refer to View Request History and Download Exported Data.

Recover Backup OneDrive Data from Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365

Go to the ReCenter portal, and follow the steps below to recover the backup data of OneDrive:

*Note: In Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365, the administrator can configure the end-user restore setting to control whether to allow users to preview, restore or export OneDrive backup data from ReCenter.

  1. Click the OneDrive tile.

  2. You can choose one of the following methods to find the data to restore.

    • Search mode – Use the properties to search for backup data of OneDrive items. Refer to the steps below:

      1. If you want to search for backup data by their document names, enter keywords in the search box. If you want to narrow your search by additional conditions, click Advanced to expand the search panel and configure the following conditions:

        • Document name – Enter keywords of a document name.

        • Folder name or location – Enter keywords of a folder name, or enter a folder location (example: folder name\subfolder name).

      2. Click Search to search for the backup data. If you want to reset the search conditions, click Reset.

        • By default, the items listed in the search results table are the latest backup data. If your desired items are not in the table and there is a message indicating that you can search for more backup data, click here in the message at the bottom of the table.

        • If you want to modify the search conditions, click the Advanced search button to expand the advanced search panel and configure the search conditions. You can click the Cancel button to clear the current search conditions.

        • Click the document name of a file to preview the file content in a new tab and you can also get the file path on the Preview page. The following file types are supported by the preview function: Word (DOC, DOCX, RTF, DOT, DOTX, and DOTM), Excel (XLS, XLSX, XLSB, XLT, XLTX, CSV, and TSV), PowerPoint (PPT, PPTX, PPS, POT, PPSX, PPTM, PPSM, POTX, and POTM), and PDF.

        • *Note: Files that have sensitive labels with encrypted data, contain archived data, or exceed 10 MB in size cannot be previewed.

    • Tree mode – Browse and find the backup data of OneDrive items. The Tree mode can load all folders on the tree. The folders that were previously backed up but later deleted from Microsoft 365 are also included in the Tree mode. Refer to the steps below:

      1. Click Try using the tree mode to switch to the Tree mode.

      2. On the left side of the page, click your mailbox to display the folders in your OneDrive backup data from the latest recovery point. Selecting a folder from the list will show its contents in the table on the right, along with any sub-folders.

      3. In the search box, you can enter keywords and search for backup data in the current folder by document name. The search results are listed on the right side of the page. Note that the search conditions you configure will automatically apply to the folder you select.

  3. To select one or multiple items to be restored or exported, select the checkboxes next to the items. If you want to select all items, select the top checkbox next to Document name in the table.

    Note the following:

    • Both content and security of the selected items will be restored.

    • Previous versions of files cannot be restored.

    • If the last modified time of the conflicting destination content is the same, the restore will be skipped; if the last modified time is different, the conflicting destination content will be kept, and the backup data of the conflicting content will be added to the destination with a sequential number suffix (for example, _1) added to the file name.

    • If two users have the same email address, for security concerns, ReCenter does not support one user in restoring the other user’s OneDrive backup data.

    • By default, sharing links for the content won’t be restored. When necessary, administrators can enable the restore of sharing links in Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365.

  4. Click Restore to restore the selected items to their original locations, or click Export to export and download the selected items to a local path.

  5. Once the restore/export job starts, you can go to Request history to view the progress of the job. In Request history, you can also view simple job reports and download exported data. For more details, refer to View Request History and Download Exported Data.

SharePoint Online

Based on your scenario, refer to the instructions in the following sections.

Recover Archived SharePoint Data from Cloud Archiving / AvePoint Opus

To recover files in SharePoint Online sites (including Microsoft 365 Group team sites), refer to the instructions below based on your scenario.

Recover a file by clicking a stub in the site

To restore or export an archived file by clicking a stub, follow the instructions below:

  1. Go to a SharePoint Online site and click the stub of an archived file. A stub can be one of the following file types:

    *Note: You can only recover files archived from the sites in your organization’s Microsoft 365 tenant. If you click the stub of a file archived from a site in another Microsoft 365 tenant, the ReCenter restore page will not be available.

    • .url file – Click the file name to open the restore page of ReCenter in a new tab.

    • .aspx file – Click the file name to open the page for accessing ReCenter, and click the restore link.

    • .html file – Click the file name to open the page for accessing ReCenter, right-click the restore link to open the restore page in a new tab.

  2. On the restore page of ReCenter, you can click Export to export and download the file to a local path. To restore archived data refer to the instructions below based on your scenario:

    • To restore archived data from Cloud Archiving, click Restore to restore the file to its original location.

    Note the following:

    - You can restore or export a file when you have at least the read-only permission to the file. - The look of the restore page can be customized by your administrator in Cloud Archiving.

    • To restore archived data from AvePoint Opus, refer to the following steps:

      1. Click Restore and select to restore the file to its original location or a different stub location.

        • If you select Restore to original location, jump to Step 3.

        • If you select Restore to another location, the Restore to another location panel appears.

      6. Click Restore to restore the file.

  3. Follow the instructions below to check the restored file or download the exported file.

  4. Simple job reports are recorded in Request history where you can view job reports and download exported data. For more details, refer to View Request History and Download Exported Data.

Search and recover files in the sites where you have been granted permissions

Go to the ReCenter portal, and follow the steps below to restore or export files from a SharePoint Online site where you have been granted permission to recover archived data:

Note the following:

- In Cloud Archiving / AvePoint Opus, the administrator can configure the end-user restore setting to control whether to allow site owners, site members, and specific SharePoint groups to restore/export data from ReCenter. - In the SharePoint Online tile, you can also search and recover files from Teams private and shared channel sites archived by AvePoint Opus.
  1. Click the SharePoint Online tile.

  2. In the Site field, enter a site URL to designate the site where you want to recover archived data.

    Note the following:

    • If you are unsure about a site URL, you can click Here is an example to open the search page in a new tab, and then search a site by keywords from the site name or description.

    • If you have entered a site URL and it is kept in the history, you can select the URL from the drop-down list.

  3. To search for documents in a site, choose one of the following methods:

    • If you want to search for documents by their names, enter keywords in the search box.

    • If you want to narrow your search by additional conditions, click Advanced to expand the search panel and configure the following conditions:

      • Document name – Enter keywords of a document name.

      • Folder name or location – Enter keywords of a folder name, or enter a folder location (example: folder name\subfolder name).

      • Created by – Enter keywords of the creator’s email address.

      • Modified by – Enter keywords of the editor’s email address.

      • Created date (from) / Created date (to) – Specify a time range.

    • For customers with the eDiscovery function in preview in AvePoint Opus, if you want to perform a full-text search across data archived by AvePoint Opus, click Advanced to expand the search panel.

      • Multiple-condition search – To search across data archived by both Cloud Archiving and AvePoint Opus, configure the following conditions:

        • Document name – Enter keywords of a document name.

        • Content (only for archived data) – Enter keywords related to the document content. Note that this field is only for data archived by AvePoint Opus. Ensure the site URL you have configured has been added to the Site whitelist in AvePoint Opus.

        • Folder name or location – Enter keywords of a folder name, or enter a folder location (example: folder name\subfolder name).

        • Created by – Enter keywords of the creator’s email address.

        • Modified by – Enter keywords of the editor’s email address.

        • Created date – Specify a created time range.

        • Archived date – Specify an archived time range. The default time range is the past month.

      • Full-text search (only for archived data) – To search across data only archived by AvePoint Opus, ensure the site URL you have configured has been added to the Site whitelist in AvePoint Opus, and configure the following conditions:

        • Keywords – Enter keywords for full-text search. The field now supports custom metadata as well.

        • Folder name or location – Enter keywords of a folder name, or enter a folder location (example: folder name\subfolder name).

        • Created by – Enter keywords of the creator’s email address.

        • Modified by – Enter keywords of the editor’s email address.

        • Created date – Specify a created time range.

        • Archived date – Specify an archived time range. The default time range is the past month.

    Click Search to search for the archived data. If you want to reset the search conditions, click Reset.

  4. The search results are listed in the table under the Archived data tab. A maximum of 2000 search results can be displayed.

  5. *Note: End users can click Export search results to run a search result export job if they have any of the following permissions: Search, Restore, or Export. To restrict the capability to export search results, administrators should ensure none of these permissions are assigned to users in the Restore settings of AvePoint Opus.

  6. Select the checkboxes next to the documents that you want to recover. If you want to select all documents, select the top checkbox next to Document name in the table.

  7. Click Restore to restore selected documents to their original locations, or click Export to export and download them to a local path.

    Note the following:

    • A stub will be removed after the file is successfully restored.

    • Both content and security of the file will be restored.

    • By default, sharing links for the content won’t be restored. Administrators can go to End-user Restore Settings in Cloud Archiving to enable the restoration of sharing links.

    • If the administrator has disabled the option for end-users to restore data from the archives, the restore job will fail.

    • If a file with the same name already exists in the original location, a sequential number suffix (for example, _1) will be added to the name of the restored file.

  8. Once the restore or export job starts, you can go to Request history to view the progress of the job. In Request history, you can also view jobs’ simple reports, and click the Download content icon next to an export job to download the exported data. Note that the exported data of a job will be available for download within 7 days. For more details, refer to View Request History and Download Exported Data.

Recover Backup SharePoint Data from Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365

Go to the ReCenter portal, and follow the steps below to recover files from a SharePoint Online site (including Microsoft 365 Group team sites) where you are one of the site owners:

*Note: In Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365, the administrator can configure the end-user restore setting to control whether to allow users to preview, restore or export SharePoint Online data from ReCenter.

  1. Click the SharePoint Online tile.

  2. In the Site field, enter a site URL to designate the site where you want to restore backup data.

    Note the following:

    • If you are unsure about a site URL, you can click Here is an example to open the search page in a new tab, and then search a site by keywords from the site name or description.

    • Ensure that you are the owner of the site.

    • If you have entered a site URL and it is kept in the history, you can select the URL from the drop-down list.

  3. To search for backup documents in a site, choose one of the following methods:

    • If you want to search for backup documents by their names, enter keywords in the search box.

    • If you want to narrow your search by additional conditions, click Advanced to expand the search panel and configure the following conditions:

      • Document name – Enter keywords of a document name.

      • Folder name or location – Enter keywords of a folder name, or enter a folder location (example: folder name\subfolder name).

      • Created by – Enter keywords of the creator’s email address.

      • Modified by – Enter keywords of the editor’s email address.

      • Created date (from) / Created date (to) – Specify a time range.

    Click Search to search for the backup data. If you want to reset the search conditions, click Reset.

  4. The search results are listed in the table under the Backup data tab. A maximum of 2000 search results can be displayed.

    You can do the following:

    • By default, the items listed in the search results table are the latest backup data. If your desired items are not in the table and there is a message indicating that you can search for more backup data, click here in the message at the bottom of the table.

    • If you want to modify the search conditions, click the Advanced search (Button: Advanced search) button to expand the advanced search panel and configure the search conditions. You can click the Cancel (Button: Cancel) button to clear the current search conditions.

    • Click the document name of a file to preview the file content in a new tab and you can also get the file path on the Preview page. The following file types are supported by the preview function: Word (DOC, DOCX, RTF, DOT, DOTX, and DOTM), Excel (XLS, XLSX, XLSB, XLT, XLTX, CSV, and TSV), PowerPoint (PPT, PPTX, PPS, POT, PPSX, PPTM, PPSM, POTX, and POTM), and PDF.

    • *Note: Files that have sensitive labels with encrypted data, contain archived data, or exceed 10 MB in size cannot be previewed.

  5. Select the checkboxes next to the documents that you want to recover. If you want to select all documents, select the top checkbox next to Document name in the table.

  6. Click Restore to restore selected documents to their original locations, or click Export to export and download the selected documents to a local path.

    Note the following:

    • Both content and security of the selected items will be restored.

    • The current and previous versions will all be restored.

    • By default, sharing links for the content won’t be restored. When necessary, administrators can enable the restore of sharing links in Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365.

    • If the last modified time of the conflicting destination content is the same, the restore will be skipped; if the last modified time is different, the conflicting destination content will be kept, and the backup data of the conflicting content will be added to the destination with a sequential number suffix (for example, _1) added to the file name.

  7. Once the restore/export job starts, you can go to Request history to view the progress of the job. In Request history, you can also view simple job reports and download exported data. For more details, refer to View Request History and Download Exported Data.

Microsoft 365 Groups

Based on your scenario, refer to the instructions in the following sections.

Recover Archived Group Data from Cloud Archiving / AvePoint Opus

To recover files in Microsoft 365 Groups, refer to the instructions below based on your scenario.

Recover a file by clicking a stub in the Group team site

To restore or export an archived file by clicking a stub, follow the instructions below:

  1. Go to a Group team site and click the stub of an archived file. A stub can be one of the following file types:

    *Note: You can only recover files archived from the Groups in your organization’s Microsoft 365 tenant. If you click the stub of a file archived from a Group in another Microsoft 365 tenant, the ReCenter restore page will not be available to you.

    • .url file – Click the file name to open the restore page of ReCenter in a new tab.

    • .aspx file – Click the file name to open the page for accessing ReCenter, and click the restore link.

  2. On the restore page of ReCenter, you can click Export to export and download the file to a local path. To restore archived data refer to the instructions below based on your scenario:

    • To restore archived data from Cloud Archiving, click Restore to restore the file to its original location.

    Note the following:

    - You can restore or export a file when you have at least the read-only permission to the file. - The look of the restore page can be customized by your administrator in Cloud Archiving.

      4. *Note: Administrators can control whether users are allowed to restore stub files to another location and configure if users can choose or manually input a destination location in the Restore settings of AvePoint Opus.

      6. Click Restore to restore the file.

  3. Follow the instructions below to check the restored file or download the exported file.

    • After the restore job completes, you can go to the file location by clicking Take me there or clicking the URL on the page.

    • After the export job is completed, follow the steps below to download the exported content:

      *Note: The exported content of a job will be available for download within 7 days. You can also go to Request history to Download content of an export job and Get a password to decrypt the downloaded content.

Go to the ReCenter portal, and follow the steps below to restore or export files from a Microsoft 365 Group where you are one of the Group owners or members:

- In Cloud Archiving / AvePoint Opus, the administrator can configure the end-user restore setting to control whether to allow Group owners and members to restore/export data from ReCenter. - Groups with dynamic membership are now supported and can be searched in ReCenter.
  1. Click the Microsoft 365 Groups tile.

  2. When you click the Group field, this field will list all Groups that you have joined. To search for a Group, you can enter keywords based on the Group name, and then select that Group from the drop-down list.

    • If you want to search for documents by their names, enter keywords in the search box.

    • If you want to narrow your search by additional conditions, click Advanced to expand the search panel and configure the following conditions:

      • Folder name or location – Enter keywords of a folder name, or enter a folder location (example: folder name\subfolder name).

      • Created by – Enter keywords of the creator’s email address.

      • Modified by – Enter keywords of the editor’s email address.

      • Created date (from) / Created date (to) – Specify a time range.

      • Archived date – Specify an archived time range. The default time range is the past month.

    • For customers with the eDiscovery function in preview in AvePoint Opus, if you want to perform a full-text search across data archived by AvePoint Opus, click Advanced to expand the search panel.

      • Multiple-condition search – To search across data archived by both Cloud Archiving and AvePoint Opus, configure the following conditions:

        • Document name – Enter keywords of a document name.

        • Content (only for archived data) – Enter keywords related to the document content. Note that this field is only for data archived by AvePoint Opus. Ensure the site URL you have configured has been added to the Site Whitelist in AvePoint Opus.

        • Folder name or location – Enter keywords of a folder name, or enter a folder location (example: folder name\subfolder name).

        • Created by – Enter keywords of the creator’s email address.

        • Modified by – Enter keywords of the editor’s email address.

        • Created date – Specify a created time range.

        • Archived date – Specify an archived time range. The default time range is the past month.

      • Full-text search (only for archived data) – To search across data only archived by AvePoint Opus, ensure the site URL you have configured has been added to the Site whitelist in AvePoint Opus, and configure the following conditions:

        • Keywords – Enter keywords for full-text search. The field now supports custom metadata as well.

        • Folder name or location – Enter keywords of a folder name, or enter a folder location (example: folder name\subfolder name).

        • Created by – Enter keywords of the creator’s email address.

        • Modified by – Enter keywords of the editor’s email address.

        • Created date – Specify a created time range.

        • Archived date – Specify an archived time range. The default time range is the past month.

    Click Search to search for the archived data. If you want to reset the search conditions, click Reset.

  5. *Note: End users can click Export search results to run a search result export job if they have any of the following permissions: Search, Restore, or Export.   7. Click Restore to restore selected documents to their original locations, or click Export to export and download them to a local path.

    • If the last modified time of the conflicting destination content is the same, the restore will be skipped; if the last modified time is different, the conflicting destination content will be kept, and the backup data of the conflicting content will be added to the destination with a sequential number suffix (for example, _1) added to the file name.

  8. Once the restore/export job starts, you can go to Request history to view the progress of the job. In Request history, you can also view simple job reports and download exported data. For more details, refer to View Request History and Download Exported Data.

Teams Chat

Go to the ReCenter portal, and follow the steps below to export Teams Chat and Teams Chat messages:

*Note: In Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365, the administrator can configure the end-user restore setting to control whether to allow Teams users to export Teams Chat backup data from ReCenter.

  1. Click the Teams Chat tile.

  2. Select Chat or Chat message from the Level list for the items you want to find.

  3. To search for backup data of Teams Chat, choose one of the following methods:

    • If you want to search for the Chat by the chat name or Chat message by keywords in the messages, enter keywords in the search box.

    • If you want to narrow your search by additional conditions, click Advanced to expand the search panel and configure the following conditions:

      • To search for chats:

        • Chat name – Enter keywords of a chat name.

        • Participants (separated by ",") – Enter keywords of participants’ display names and separate them by ",".

      • To search for chat messages:

        • Chat name – Enter keywords of a chat name.

        • Sender – Enter keywords of the sender’s display name of chat messages.

        • Keywords – Enter keywords of chat messages.

        • Date sent (from) – Click the Calendar button to select a start date for the time range.

        • Date sent (to) – Click the Calendar button to select an end date for the time range.

    Click Search to search for the backup data. If you want to reset the search conditions, click Reset.

  4. The search results will be listed. A maximum of 2000 search results can be displayed. By default, the items listed in the search results table are the latest backup data. If your desired items are not in the table and the message Continue to search for more backup data by clicking here. is displayed at the bottom of the table, click here to continue with the search.

  5. Select the checkboxes next to the chats or chat messages that you want to export. If you want to select all chats or chat messages, select the top checkbox next to Chat or Chat message in the table.

  6. Click Export to export selected chats or chat messages to export and download the selected chats or chat messages to a local path.

  7. Once the export job starts, you can go to Request history to view the progress of the job. In Request history, you can also download exported data. For more details, refer to View Request History and Download Exported Data.

Power BI

Go to the ReCenter portal, and follow the steps below to recover the backup data of Power BI:

*Note: In Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365, the administrator can configure the end-user restore setting to control whether to allow Workspace admins, members, and contributors to restore Power BI backup data from ReCenter.

  1. Click the Power BI tile.

  2. When you click the Workspace field, this field will list all workspaces you have. Enter or select a workspace where you want to restore backup data.

  3. To search for Power BI reports by their names, enter keywords in the search box and click Search.

  4. The search results are listed. A maximum of 2000 search results can be displayed. By default, the items listed in the search results table are the latest backup data. If your desired items are not in the table and there is a message indicating that you can search for more backup data, click here in the message at the bottom of the table.

  5. Select the checkboxes next to the reports that you want to recover. If you want to select all reports, select the top checkbox next to Name in the table.

  6. Click Restore to restore selected reports to their original locations.

    Note the following:

    • The reports restored will inherit the permissions of the destination workspace.

    • The sharing link of a report will not be restored.

    • If the last modified time of the conflicting destination content is the same, the restore will be skipped; if the last modified time is different, the conflicting destination content will be kept, and the backup data of the conflicting content will be added to the destination with a sequential number suffix (for example, _1) added to the file name.

    • Workspaces can contain a maximum of 1000 datasets or 1000 reports per dataset. If the limit is exceeded, the restoration will fail.

    • For reports whose names contain special characters:

      • If the report name contains /, ** or :, the restored report name will only contain the characters after the special character. For example, if the report name is 123/456, the restored report name will be 456.

      • If the report name contains ", <, >, or |, the restored report will be renamed as File Model.

      • The * and ? have no effect on restored report names.

  7. Once the restore/export job starts, you can go to Request history to view the progress of the job. In Request history, you can also view simple job reports and download exported data. For more details, refer to View Request History and Download Exported Data.

Power Automate

Go to the ReCenter portal, and follow the steps below to export Power Automate flows:

*Note: In Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365, the administrator can configure the end-user restore setting to control whether to allow the flow creator and owners to export Power Automate backup data from ReCenter.

  1. Click the Power Automate tile.

  2. To search for backup data of Power Automate, choose one of the following methods:

    • If you want to search for the cloud flow by the flow name, enter keywords in the search box.

    • If you want to narrow your search by additional conditions, click Advanced to expand the search panel and configure the following conditions:

      • Flow name – Enter keywords of a flow name.

      • Created date – Click the Calendar button to select the created date of the flow.

      • Creator – Enter keywords of the flow creator’s display name or email address.

      • Owner – Enter keywords of the flow owners’ display name or email address.

      • Environment – Enter keywords of the environment in which the flow is created.

      • State – Select the flow status.

    Click Search to search for the backup data. If you want to reset the search conditions, click Reset.

  3. The search results will be listed. A maximum of 2000 search results can be displayed. By default, the items listed in the search results table are the latest backup data. If your desired items are not in the table and the message Continue to search for more backup data by clicking here. is displayed at the bottom of the table, click here to continue with the search.

  4. Select the checkboxes next to the flows that you want to export. You can export a maximum of 10 flows at a time.

  5. Click Export to export selected flows and download the selected flows to a local path.

  6. Once the export job starts, you can go to Request history to view the progress of the job. In Request history, you can also download exported data. For more details, refer to View Request History and Download Exported Data.
