AvePoint Portal Manager has integrated with AvePoint Online Services for authentication and user management. Before getting started with AvePoint Portal Manager, make sure to complete the following configurations:

Initial Configurations in AvePoint Online Services

Complete the following configurations in AvePoint Online Services:

  1. Sign Up for AvePoint Online Services – If you are from the Japan data center and have not signed up an account for AvePoint Portal Manager, sign up for AvePoint Online Services first to access the AvePoint Portal Manager service. For new customers from other data centers, refer to Register an Account for details on how to register an account for AvePoint Portal Manager.

  2. Manage Users – Add application administrators or standard users who will engage in AvePoint Portal Manager in AvePoint Online Services > User management.

  3. Connect Your Tenants to AvePoint Online Services – Connect AvePoint Portal Manager with your Microsoft 365 tenant in AvePoint Online Services > Tenant management.

  4. Authenticate the access from AvePoint Portal Manager to your Microsoft 365 tenant:

Getting Started with AvePoint Portal Manager

To get started with AvePoint Portal Manager, complete the following steps in sequence:

  1. Sign in to AvePoint Portal Manager using a registered account or a Microsoft 365 account. For more information, refer to Sign in to AvePoint Portal Manager.

  2. [Optional] Manage users who have access to your tenant in AvePoint Portal Manager. The invited users can help manage the intranet portal sites in AvePoint Portal Manager. For more information, refer to Manage Users.

  3. [Optional] Manage groups whose members will have access to your tenant in AvePoint Portal Manager. For more information, refer to Manage Groups.

  4. [Optional] View detailed subscription information. For more information, refer to View Subscription Information.

  5. [Optional] Enable Microsoft 365 Content Delivery Network (CDN) to host resource files to provide better performance for your intranet portal sites. For more information, refer to Enable Microsoft 365 CDN.

  6. Use AvePoint Portal Manager to create your intranet portal sites. For more information, refer to Use AvePoint Portal Manager.

    NOTE

    The access to Microsoft Entra secured APIs used by the AvePoint Portal Manager solutions requests additional permissions. After deploying a template to a site, refer to Appendix A - Approve Permission Requests in SharePoint Admin Center to approve the permission requests in the SharePoint admin center. If you have already approved the permission requests, please skip this note.

  7. Customize the intranet portal sites in SharePoint without affecting the template in AvePoint Portal Manager. For more information, refer to Configure the Intranet Portal Site in SharePoint.

  8. [Optional] Update AvePoint Portal Manager from the previous version to the current version to experience the new features. For more information, refer to Update AvePoint Portal Manager.
