General Updates

  • Cloud Backup for IaaS + PaaS now supports Google Cloud Storage as a BYOS storage type.

  • For organizations using AvePoint Azure storage to store backup data that have signed up for AvePoint Online Services with the Germany West Central (Frankfurt) data center, United Arab Emirates (Dubai) is now available as a selectable storage region when accessing the Cloud Backup for IaaS + PaaS interface for the first time.

  • A new subscription model for Cloud Backup for IaaS + PaaS is now available, offering capacity-based (GB) pricing for Virtual Machine, Azure SQL, Azure Storage, and Azure DevOps services, along with user-based seat pricing for Microsoft Entra ID, Admin Portal Settings, and Azure AD B2C services.

  • When deleting a backup scope, a confirmation window now allows users to configure how to handle the backup data within the scope. The following 3 options are available:

    • Keep the data and follow the configured retention policy

    • Keep the data for 30 days and then delete

    • Delete immediately

  • The system auditor report has been enhanced to better highlight changes.

  • Users with the customized administrator role configured in AvePoint Online Services now have the same permissions as service administrators when accessing Cloud Backup for IaaS and PaaS.

What’s New in Virtual Machine

  • When configuring backup scopes for Azure VMs, tooltip messages for retention and snapshots have been added in the Settings step to clarify retention policies and snapshot behavior.

  • The 21Vianet environment for Azure VMs is now supported.

What’s New in Admin Portal Settings

  • The Admin Portal Settings service now supports comparing configuration profiles in Intune before restoration.

What’s New in Microsoft Entra ID

  • When configuring backup scopes for Microsoft Entra ID, objects are now categorized into two types: Directory objects (including app registrations, enterprise applications, administrative units, roles and administrators, groups, and users) and Logs (sign-in logs and audit logs). This provides greater flexibility in defining backup scopes.

What’s New in Azure Storage

  • The dynamic rules method can now be used to define backup scopes for the Azure Storage service.

What’s New in Azure SQL

  • If your organization uses your own storage to store backup data, you can select days as the unit of time for the backup interval when configuring the backup cope for Azure SQL backup service.
