Manage Licenses Consumed by Inactive Users

In Dashboard, the Attention required section allows users with the View and export license report permission to monitor the license usage of inactive users. Users can use the filter to view the license usage of tenants and Containers & Groups. The count of licenses used by inactive users will be displayed in this section.

    2. On the inactive user details page, you can view user active time by selecting a user and clicking View active date or hover the mouse over a user, click the more actions (Button: More actions.) button, and then select View active date.

    3. On the view active time page, check the user active time of the following Microsoft 365 apps:

      • Teams

      • Viva Engage

      • SharePoint

      • Exchange

      • OneDrive

      • Skype for Business

    4. Click Manage licenses.

    5. You can select a subscription to assign the license or deselect a subscription to remove the license from the selected user.

    6. Click Save to save your changes.

On the inactive user details page, you can also manage licenses for multiple users at a time by selecting multiple users and clicking Manage licenses. For detailed instructions, refer to Manage Subscriptions and User Licenses.
