#About Classic DocAve Backup

Classic DocAve Backup is a backup solution for SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Microsoft 365 group team sites (including Microsoft Teams sites), Exchange Online, and Microsoft 365 groups’ calendars and conversations. Classic DocAve Backup includes Granular Backup and Restore and Exchange Online Backup and Restore. This guide details how to perform backups using Granular Backup and Restore and Exchange Online Backup and Restore.

#Integration with AvePoint Online Services

Classic DocAve Backup is integrated with AvePoint Online Services. To sign up for Classic DocAve Backup, you must first sign up for an AvePoint Online Services account. AvePoint provides the following methods to sign up for an AvePoint Online Services account:

• Sign up on the AvePoint Online Services website.

• On the AvePoint website, visit the AvePoint Online Services page.

• To sign up for AvePoint Online Services for the U.S. Government Public Sector, which is a version available on Microsoft’s Cloud Platform for U.S. Government, access the following URL: https://usgov.avepointonlineservices.com.

  Classic DocAve Backup functionalities in both versions (the U.S. Government Public Sector version and the Commercial version) of AvePoint Online Services are the same.

To access Classic DocAve Backup, use one of the entries above to sign in to AvePoint Online Services. For details, refer to the AvePoint Online Services User Guide.

From any page within Classic DocAve Backup, you can open a new tab to access AvePoint Online Services or another AvePoint service. Click the change to a different service ( ) button on the upper-right corner, and then click AvePoint Online Services or a service.

#Concurrent Job Support

Classic DocAve Backup can support a maximum of five concurrent jobs for a tenant. These five jobs can run concurrently from different products within Classic DocAve Backup.

#Export Encryption Keys

After you end your Classic DocAve Backup subscription, AvePoint will provide the following solutions to ensure that you can revert the encrypted backup data to a plain text file:

• Use DocAve 6 to restore backup data of Granular Backup and Restore

• Use the Data Export Tool to restore backup data of Exchange Online Backup and Restore

Before using DocAve 6 or the Data Export Tool to restore or export data, the encryption key used to encrypt the backup data must be exported from the Classic DocAve Backup interface.

1. Log into AvePoint Online Services and navigate to Classic DocAve Backup.

2. Open Control Panel and click Export Encryption Keys. The Export Encryption Keys window appears.

3. In the Data Selection section, select the module of the exported backup data.

4. According to the selected module, select the encryption key files to export:

   • Exchange Online Backup & Restore – Select the checkboxes next to the plans that backed up the exported data.

   • Granular Backup & Restore – Select the checkbox next to the name of the Tenant Owner.

5. Click Export on the ribbon. The encryption key files will be downloaded.

6. Extract encryption key files and find the JSON files in the extracted folders.
