Integration with AvePoint Online Services

AvePoint Cloud Index is integrated with AvePoint Online Services. To sign up for an AvePoint Cloud Index account, you must first sign up for an account in AvePoint Online Services. AvePoint provides the following methods to sign up for an AvePoint Online Services account:

- Sign up on the [AvePoint Online Services](https://www.avepointonlineservices.com/) website. - Visit the AvePoint Online Services page or the AvePoint Cloud Index page on the AvePoint official website.

To access AvePoint Cloud Index, use one of the entries above to sign in to AvePoint Online Services. For details about how to sign in or sign up to AvePoint Online Services, refer to the AvePoint Online Services User Guide.

From any page within AvePoint Cloud Index, you can open a new tab to access AvePoint Online Services or another AvePoint service. Click the change to a different service (nine-tile grid) button on the upper-right corner, and then click AvePoint Online Services or another service.

After you sign in to AvePoint Online Services, you need to configure the following settings first.

- Create an app profile for **Microsoft** **Entra** **ID** in **Management** > **App** **management**. > ***Note**: This app profile is only required if you want to use the **Private** option of **Advanced Settings** in the configuration of a Cloud Index connection, which can enable the people picker support with AvePoint Online Services for Microsoft Entra ID App. - Create an app profile for **Microsoft 365** **(All permissions)** in **Management** > **App** **management**. > ***Note**: This app profile is only required if you want to integrate AvePoint Cloud Index with your SharePoint Online environment. - Create an app profile for a **Custom Azure** **app** in **Management** > **App** **management**. > ***Note**: This app profile is only required if you want to manage files in your Azure File Storage via Cloud Index and manage access based on Azure role-based access control (Azure RBAC). - Add users (Local user, and Microsoft 365 user/group) in **Management** > **User** **management**. > ***Note**: AvePoint Cloud Index user roles are integrated with the AvePoint Online Services Tenant Users role. The AvePoint Online Services Tenant User role consists of an Application Administrator and Standard Users. - **Application** **administrator** – The Application administrator fulfills the role of an AvePoint Cloud Index administrator. Administrators can build up connections between the data sources and Microsoft 365, and set up general settings like domain mappings, column display settings, etc. - **Standard** **user** – A Standard User fulfills the role of an AvePoint Cloud Index end user. End users can view file lists and perform actions on files in the connections that are configured by application administrators.

I Want AvePoint Online Services to Automatically Create Apps in My Entra ID

If you want AvePoint Online Services to automatically create apps of the Microsoft 365 (All permissions) or Microsoft Entra ID app type in your Microsoft Entra ID, refer to the Microsoft 365 (All Permissions) or Microsoft Entra ID section in the AvePoint Online Services user guide to see the API permissions you need to accept when you authorize the apps.

I Want to Manually Create an App in My Microsoft Entra ID

If you want to manually create an app in your Microsoft Entra ID, refer to the permissions listed in the table below to add API permissions required by AvePoint Cloud Index to the custom apps.
