This guide is provided for AvePoint customers using AvePoint Cloud Backup for Dynamics 365 who want to archive the legacy backup data, or plan to end the subscription and move away with the backup data.
If the subscription to AvePoint Cloud Backup for Dynamics 365 service ends, AvePoint will retain the backup data in AvePoint storage for 15 days, subject to the terms of your service agreement. The backup data in AvePoint storage can be exported to your own storage as a paid service. You must submit an export request if you wish to export your data from AvePoint Storage.
If you have the BYOS (bring your own storage) license, the backup data will remain in your own storage until you delete it. You do not need to pay an export fee.
The backup data is encrypted and stored in AvePoint format, and not as pure copies of Dynamics 365 data. AvePoint provides a stand-alone tool to help convert the backup data to readable content:
You can ask for the Data Export tool to restore your Dynamics 365 backup data that stores in the supported storage types (SFTP, Microsoft Azure Blob and File Storage, Amazon S3 storage, and Amazon S3-Compatible storage) to a local system as CSV files. For details, refer to Run Data Export Tool.
